I was looking online and saw some S.A.D lamps that allegedly alleviate seasonal affective disorder symptoms, or winter blues.

I was wondering, isn't winter blues something that nearly everyone has at some level?

Is S.A.D real? If its raining and dark my mood naturally dips, I didn't think I have S.A.D though I thought it was just a natural mood reaction to the bleak weather?

If I'm feeling a bit down because of rain do I have S.A.D or is it more serious than that? Feeling suicidal etc.

Anyone care to shed some light on this? Haha. Thanks

You shift from talking about feeling a bit down due to the rain and then to suicidal ?

I don't get whats so bad about rain. I love rain.

The sound of rain against the window at night is proper calming. Being outside in the rain feels awesome sometimes.

It does feel a bit lame when you go in work when its pitch black, then come out when its pitch black again.

In that regard it could be seen as depressing.

My old man has it, really can make him a misery to be around. He has two of the lamps, one for the office and one for when he gets up in the morning and he reckons they help a little. That being said, it's no fun dragging his arse around the golf course this time of the year!

I feel noticeably lower during the winter months, usually from October. I fix it with hot chocolate, central heating, cashmere and folk music. Does me the world of good.

Most people feel a bit down in the darker months people with SAD moreso for a variety reasons. You only have to have a look at the suicide rates per month for some countries (eg Sweden, Norway, etc) so see how real it is. And yes the lights do help some.

If you're not sure whether you have SAD, ADS, SDA or even ASD then you probably just have Dyslexia.
