If so, I was wondering what kind of spec you use?

I've been Stylus RMX with the Backbeat addon for drums for a while, but recently bought EZ Drummer as it has far superior grooves and sound quality.
I've started recording a song which, at the moment has 2 guitar parts, a bass line and a drum track and on the VST Performance bar the Cpu reading is around 70
This is using Cubase VST32, i have Cubase SX3 but cannot get Insert FX to work :(

Should be computer be able to handle this?

I use SX3 with the spec in my sig and it runs alright with EZ Drummer and one expansion installed. However, when you start adding multiple FX to tracks and monitoring them it can go a little slow at times, but not by a huge amount.

However, 70% usage on the VST instrument bar wont include any FX applied to the tracks unless they are using VST instruments, and as i see it at the moment, you are simply using EZ Drummer which shouldn't make it that high.

Have you got any AMD drivers installed for your CPU? I could also be that you are running XP64, but i don't really see how that may create any issues to be honest. I'll re-install Cubase later on (now using Vista 32) and see if that has any performance hit over XP and too see what kind of CPU hit i get with EZ drummer and a few other tracks. :)

Im using XP32 for Cubase, VST32 doesnt work on XP64, sorry forgot to mention that.

Also forgot to mention that i am using Amplitube for each of the Audio tracks.

Hmm AMD CPU drivers eh ....er dunno...

Do mean this: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16?
Does it matter thats over a year old?

I've installed that driver, didnt change a lot. Tried Cubase again, not a lot of difference to be honest. Seems to run worse now than it did with my old computer which i think was something like an AMD Athlon 3200 with 1gb Ram

My EZDrummer has 6 kits on it, would that make a difference as im only using one at a time?

Just loaded an old song which as about 10 guitar tracks, 6 RMX drum tracks and an Atmosphere track and cpu usage is around 10.

Gonna remove some FX to see what is causing it.

It;s Amplitube :( Just read a review on it, it requires a hell of a lot of cpu power

You using Amplitube v2 or the older v1?

Version 2 is better coded and should run a lot better that the previous versions. Try the demo and see if that helps. You have 10 days to test it out anyhow. ;)

Yes im using Amplitude 2. Version 1 runs a hell of a lot better than than 2. Unfortunately 2 sounds a lot better.

I got Cubase SX inserts working - had to disable ASIO Direct Monitoring, so i've been playing with all evening.

In SX i can use Amplitude a maximum of 5 times (tracks) per song.

Can you recommend any other Guitar Amp plugins? I've been looking at Guitar Rig 2, but i've also noticed people having problems with it.
