Does anyone own a Type R EP3 or Audi TT Quattro 225?

I just sold my CW DC5 and had a silver pre facelift EP3 before that. Best ECU to get is either Hondata or the more tunable KPRO. I had very similar mods on both my Hondas being KPRO, Spoon N1 backbox, Spoon B pipe, Gruppe M, Mapped by CPL.

Power was there when required and at times i could cruise on motorway and still achieve 350 miles from a full tank. If the car is well looked after then it shouldn't be a problem.

I will test drive both mate, thanks

What do you think of the K20? & does Vtec pull strong pal?

Im turning towards the EP3 i really am

Aye, still engages like it should and pulls well, probably not like it did 10 years/85k miles ago when I bought it, but I still enjoy it.

With 5k I personally would be looking at:
350z
e36 M3
S2000

However, I would imagine your insurance would be closer to your 1.1 than the EP3 quotes you have been obtaining.

you aren't a network technician, you're a 'computer analyst'

remember that for next time you renew :)

I'd be a bit careful here, although if you did have a smash they'd probably never bother checking out your job, you never know.

A network technician is nothing like a computer analyst. It would be similar to someone working as a purchase ledger assistant claiming to be a finance director. Sure they both see invoices but how they utilise it and their skills is completely different. A computer analyst in my eyes is someone who has been to University, gathers and uses company's data to potentially improve stuff; a network technician plugs things into walls and will occasionally reboot some stuff.

For £900 saving on insurance, I'd take the chance, though. :p

Cheers mate, yeah i can imagine as with age it differs but only slightly as honda engines are bomb proof. you've had it 10 years? WOW

all RWD cars ay mate :)
Well i did consider a S2K but i wasn't sure id get a decent one in the 5k price range

You could probably get a high mileage one, which doesn't matter too much but as Rybo89 eluded to, I'd imagine your insurance company will run out of lube shafting you on the premium to insure it.

Well after just having a quick nosey at S2000's i found a few in the 5K range, i found one for £4500 with 117k on the clock, then another that cost 6k but only had 71k on the clock, so within budget (or slightly over but as its a Honda im not too bothered)

And guys i can insure one, i just run a quote on a S2000 W Reg and it come back at £2082! not bad considering my 1.4L seat ibiza is £991

An S2000, although not on paper significantly faster, will be a different proposition to an EP3.

Even if you could afford a semi-decent S2000, I'd probably still recommend one of your original choices for a year or two.

You may then be able to afford the facelift S2000 (AP2?).

Something is not right with your insurance quotes. They just make no sense.

I can insure GTR's/STI's/M3's/Type R's for around £1k-£1.5k but the S2000 is just a no go for me until i am 25.

The ones that will insure me come in at around £2500.

Still, £2028, no thanks!

Looks like it's going to cost him a grand to insure anything, so he's screwed over no matter what.

I am not sure what's up with the insurance quotes, but i am doing it all legit and the S2K come back the cheapest at £2028, it got a lot more expensive from other insurers though!

(Just to mention these quotes are NOT fully comp, they are TPF&T)

My insurance is quite dear on most cars, all i can do is just pay and bag the No Claims Discounts.

Have you tried fully comp? It can be cheaper...

Also make sure experienced relatives are named drivers... Parking on the road can be cheaper for quotes etc. You might have already done this, but have a play otherwise.

Yep, fully comp was £200 more in this case.

Dope, i forgot to put my parents on as named drivers this quote was only me insured :o

Wow parking on the road can be cheaper? i never knew that. i thought my drive would be cheaper. i'll check it out

Thanks a lot boss

Im not sure adding parents makes much difference anymore. I think the insurance companies have wised up to the amount of parents as main with a 17 additional:D. I will add when i quoted my car a couple of years ago it was £1200 for me and my girlfriend for a 996 C2 (both of us were 24 and i had 6 years NCB) when i added my mum who was 56ish it went upto £1800. Go figure.

Yeah mate, they have wised up but i thought id give it a shot putting my dad on who has had a licence for 30 years and has 29 years NCB but my quote went up £400-ish

insurance as a whole these days is such a joke.

Thanks for your advice :)

Adding your parents as named drivers is not the same as putting your parents as main drivers with a '17 additional'.

Yup, insurance companies do not like you going on your parents as a '17 Additional' but they don't mind you putting you parents on as additional drivers.

i heard that having you parents as the main drivers of your car and you on as an additional driver is illegal, something called fronting? (i may be wrong, i heard something along these lines)

Yes fronting. Done more than you would think aswell. Hence why you see very young folk driving Type R's and Scoobies etc.

Exactly, its not fair. i have waited my time insuring legitimately and everything, i went a year in a 1.1L Pug 106, its been 2 years with my current Seat Ibiza 1.4L and now i think ive earned the right to move up. insuring an EP3 or TT is still just over £2000 as i'm only 21 but its so high because i insure legally! (not saying anyone else doesn't, im just saying).

it's really not fair when young folk do that and others have to suffer.
