We've been talking about old comics and comic strips in the office this morning and I'm sure I used to read an old comic when I was a kid and it starred a young but brilliant goalkeeper called "Tuffy" (or similar or he may have been a secondary character!)

Does anyone remember this as I can't find anything on Google....

Thanks guys...

I remember Hufty from the tv show "The Word" is that the same bloke?

No :(

I used to watch Buffy, a TV show about a vampire slaying high school student, is that what you where on about?

Not unless she did a bit of goalkeeping on the side.... and was in a comic! :p

Not "The Safest Hands In Soccer"?

Don't remember Tuffy though.

Don't think so!

I'm sure it was either a stand-alone comic book or might have been a comic strip in a newspaper!

He was a young keeper, plucked from Sunday league obscurity by a league team manager and went on to be this stunning keeper that went on to be a star!

*damned memory*

I remember Fluffy, a fictional pet elephant belonging to the character Oscar the Grouch on the TV series Sesame Street, is that what you mean?

Again sadly no!

Just to save a bit of time here, I'm pretty sure that all names rhyming with "Tuffy" are not what I'm after - unless they happen to portray a fictional goalkeeper in a comic, in which case it's possible that I'm remembering the name slightly wrong! :D

maybe it was a 1 off in an annual?

i used to read the victor and hotspur as a kid and they would often have the odd footy strip that wasnt seen of again. i remember one where some asian footy team had big springs in their turbans they used to cheat with. odd how i still remember it as that must be 30 years ago. probably not too PC these days

was it Rufus from Striker?

Rufus Lebonque is the side's first-choice goalkeeper. Nick spotted him in Haiti after his holiday in Barbados went awry, and signed him after a court order forced the club to sign more non-white players. As a result of this, Teflon Davis was transfer-listed and went on a drinking binge that resulted in his death. Rufus' performance was poor until he started wearing Voodoo face paint. The team once had their summer break in Haiti at a hotel owned by Rufus’ uncle, an Elvis impersonator. He has a Jamaican accent, and believes that it may be because his relatives come from there.

I know, thanks! None responded with seeming to remember, so in order to clear the person as suffering from memory loss, I decided to post. I was looking for Tuffy today - nobody seems to remember apart from Stevie P and I.
