Does anyone still play everquest 2

The eq2 all in one i ordered turned up yesterday didnt get to install it till late last night now downloading the updates while im at work but wont get to play till late 2nite (sometimes a social life and a girlfriend really suck lol) i would prefer a pvp server tho.
 
Played in beta and for about 6 months after launch, enjoyed it but had a lot missing. Went back about a year ago and the changes where HUGE.
Got a necro to 70, took a break for 4-5 months then went back about 2 months ago. The new expansion is very good indeed and the balance between group/solo content is spot on.

I play on Runnyeye, My necro is called Relmut so yell I can help with anything :)
 
I keep considering going back to EQ2. Played it in the beta and for a little while afterwards and enjoyed it. Something about it appeals to me more than WoW but maybe that's because I was an avid EQ1 player.
Main problem I find is I never seem to get to know people as my playtime can be erratic without always playing at certain times.
 
lol, getting a crapload of corruption errors from the install DVD, but I'm not too bothered seeing as I'm bound to be downloading 5x the size from updates anyway :D

Will see if I get a free week's worth of playtime.
 
If you've got friends you can play with, or a good chance of getting in a proper guild then I'd play. Otherwise it's a frustrating game as all the good stuff is groupable only. Maybe it was just the server I was on combined with my class choice.

With the server population increase with Rise of Kunark release, getting groups was still difficult unless you play a guardian or templar (or other capable healer class), as they seem to always be in short supply.

In game support is poor as you rely on emails, and the final answer is normally no help. Had a few quests that were not completable, even though the NPC was ready to complete quest. So SoE QA is still rubbish.
 
Is it still chock full of instances? Instances are a MMO soul destroying feature (IMO). I played EQ2 at release and the gfx were nice and stressed top end systems at the time (6800Ultra with a X2 I think it was) played pretty well I could see the potential... but then I hit the instances and it ruined the whole game for me.
 
Mentoring is worse, especially for shared dungeons. As the farmers bypass the group clearing way to names. Then farmer reaches named and mentors down and gets the loots.

I played EQII on release but not played for a year or 2, are there any codes to let me play free for a while?

I know there is a downloadable 14 day trial but I have the full version on cd & wan't to use this so after the 14 day trial I can sign up using that.
 
Just try logging in with your old account as they did give a lot of de-activated accounts free time a while back.
