Does anyone use a car camera?

There is a chap on my facebook people who has one of these now so we get treated on a weekly basis to "OH DEAR LORD LOOK AT THIS BAD DRIVING" videos. The last one had an added touch of irony as he repeatedly spun the camera round to view forwards, then backwards, then forwards again... Just so he could catch how "dangerous" the car behind was being by getting a little closer than he would like.

I know which one I thought was more dangerous and it wasn't the tailgater.

I do quite like the idea of them but as my drives are pretty uneventful 99.9% of the time it isn't worth it.

I do wish I had one when I was following an X5 weaving all over the road which then cut the corner of a junction and ripped the corner off of a focus that was waiting to pull out. I tried to catch up to get the reg but by the time I turned round he was long gone with two slow moving cars between us :(

What do you expect these forward facing cameras to show, surely if they do allow you to identify a car you crash into it will be in front of you and likely your fault? Do you really get caught up in enough non fault crashes for this to be worthwhile?

There are so many liars out there now where it comes to driving. Just one accident that isnt forced to go 50/50 because some liar decides that he doesnt want to payfor an accident that they caused (With no witness or even a witness that magically appears on their behalf) will be well worth it. And especially with all the insurance scams going around lately with people intentionally causing accidents (Such as overtaking then immediately slamming on the brakes) rear diver would be considered at fault without any witnesses or evidence and another scumbag would get away with it..

Wow that sounds like quite some kit. Any chance of a run down on what youve got and how well it works.

In my car I have an cheap eBay job ,it does 640*480 and loops on to a 8gb card for £40 all in I think it works well enough. It turns its self on at unlocking the car and a three min timer after locking.

Bullit

Its top spec stuff, not for cars really, its the latest Transview 2 we fit them to all the work vans to test the gear before it goes on sale, and test the latest software.

If you look here, this was a transview 1 from back in 2010.

Im sorry to say it, but we also make the ANPR system in police cars.

i have been looking for something like this for a while.

i have a GoPro Hero 2 which has been great, but i would prefer something permanently mounted. i think i will buy that BlackVue DR400G-HD when i get in :)

I thought that turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

Was back on PH the other day, she went to court and was convicted of a few offences AFAIK? No hoax.

Where its rumered to be fake etc its been on here several times where the lady knocks over the bloke when overtaking around an island going over a bridge.

Its on channel 5* now - worlds scariest drivers interviewing the chaps persuiting her.

The guy she flatened made a full recovery on she got a suspended jail sentance, a £500 fine, 200 hours communtiy service and a life time driving ban.

Lots Of Varieties of camera out there.. These Cameras tend to malfunction easily. I have tried all kinds .. Cheap Ones and Expensive Ones.. So choose wisely..
Give Fort digital Brand a miss.. i paid over 300 dollars and it got spoiled almost four times.. Even with warranty for a year.. have to keep going down to get it fixed.. I threw it away at the fifth time. Useless product.. overpriced..
Any reviews to this model http://www.szswill.com/car-camera-hd/rearview-mirror-dash-camera-d500.html ?
