Does anyone use Three's "Home Signal" box??

Just copied this from the 3 website. Tell them you've got one of these phones.
You never know.

The app isn't currently available on the HTC Desire 500, Samsung Mini S3, Sony Xperia J, iPhone 3GS, Samsung Galaxy Mega, Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Huawei Ascend P2.

Had one since August, it's been spot on, had to reboot it once but it does exactly what it says on the tin, gives full signal at home. Like others, had to phone them, took about 20 mins and fairly painless, just explained I had zero signal at home and that the Three In Touch app (released literally the week before) was still too buggy and not reliable enough - one turned up the next day via DPD.

In the more recent T&C's though, you need to give it them back if you leave Three or they charge you £75 - you do NOT own the device, you lease it from them, as you're not legally allowed to broadcast the signal at home without a license etc - i think the earlier customers got away with not been charged, hence theres lots on eBay.

Can add up to 30 numbers to it (if your friends and family often visit etc)

Result! Three are sending me a home signal box this week! Had to go through about 3 different departments answering various questions but in the end they agreed to send me the box but they are going to contact me in a few months to see if the signal reception in my house has improved and if it has then I need to return it!

I'm only on a rolling monthly contract and don't have one of the phones listed in the post above so it's definitely worth persevering!

I threatened to leave them. Even got the PAC codes for mine and the wife's phone numbers and they still weren't going to give me one.
I really didn't want to go back onto a contract but no other provider gets a signal in my house either. No matter how much EE lied to me about getting 4G etc. I still got no reception!!

The box landed today so I've plugged it in and left it with it's blinking green light to sort itself out!

Hopefully when I get home from work I'll actually be able to make and receive calls! :D

Just a quick update on this thread for anyone with a poor Three signal in their home - this works a treat!!!

I've gone from pretty much zero signal (certainly not good enough to reply on for a coherent conversation) to full bars throughout my house on my HTC One M8!!!! :D

Takes a bit of effort to get Three to agree to send you one but they are definitely worth the work!!!

Effort? You're not wrong.

Day 1 - I report bad signal. They tell me to install the app.
Day 4 - I ring up and say the app is crap. I'm asked the following:
  • Explain why the app is crap
  • Do you get full reception when you go outside
  • Have you tried restarting your phone?
  • Any other Three customers get the same issue in your house?
I'm told to hold, I was waiting for 15 minutes then got transferred. I was then asked the same questions as above. They tell me that their mast checking software is broken and they'll call back.
Day 5 - missed call, so I rang in. Same questions as above. Call moved to '2nd line'.
Call cuts off.
Day 6 - receive call, asked same question as above except the app. I was then told to install the app.

Till this point I'd been quite calm, but I lost it a little. :D

20 minutes later of being put on hold, bone questions etc and they told me a Home Signal is in the post.

I've plugged it in, it just flashed green. Does the SIM need to be in? It's been on for about 2 hours now.

I'm on giffgaff, is there something similar for O2 network as my new house has virtually no signal and this kind of thing seems ideal?

There is the similar Boostbox and the 'Tu Go' app for O2 customers, but neither of these work for GiffGaff.

Just got off the phone with Three. Got one coming on Tuesday. Just explained that there's no signal in the house and that one person's got a windows phone (which there isn't). I have got a £40 a month contract with them for 2 phones though. The in touch app is useless though I always get missed calls and get two of the same texts though at the same time so looking forwards to getting the box.

It's sorted now. Even though they sent it Thursday last week, they only activated it on Monday, so when I got back today I did a reset on it and it's dropped in.
