User account control?

I always set this to off then windows keeps telling me it should be on, is it actually useful for anything? I have AV and a firewall, but its annoying to have to have UAC on too.. I feel as if I have one too many raincoats on here if you know what i mean :D

Yup no need to turn it off for me, hardly do anything that prompts me day to day so leave it on. Worth doing imho.

Left it at whatever the Windows 7 default setting is, but it is most definitely on. Doesn't affect my use of the machine or bother me in the slightest.

I've got it on but turned down a notch from default. So it still warns me but doesn't dim the screen.

It's only the odd program like ccleaner that triggers it anyway.

I leave it on without the screen dimming. It's a good extra layer of protection.

The only annoying thing is it asking me if MSI Afterburner is ok every time I turn on the machine.

It was the first thing to be turned off when I installed windows, it is to far annoying for the benefits it produces. I wish permissions where as easy to turn off so you "own" everything in every folder.

Definitely leave it on! It's not very intrusive in Windows 7. There's no problem with having an AV, a firewall and UAC, as they all do different things.

Same mate i have tried everything to try and stop UAC asking me about this every startup, tried task schedular to allow it on startup but still everytime it asks me :(

I'm sure you'll feel the same if you 'owned' everything on your system and with UAC off also removed another level of security so that if you do get a virus it's able to infect your entire system without any resistance.

Permissions are set the way they are for a reason.
