Does C2D benefit from water?

I currently have my Opty watercooled and love it - almost silent and still overclocked nicely. The move to a C2D will be a bit of a pain as I'd have to refit the loop and buy new blocks. So it's tempting to just stay with air again. But if there is a lot of benefit in staying with water then I wil. I've kind of got hooked on mid 30's temps under heavy load :D

I suppose what I'm asking is whether the C2D's run hot or cold and whether they benefit from extra volts to give them an overclocking nudge :)

EDIT: Whoops, wrong forum. Please could a mod move to overclocking and cooling. thanks :)

well....

i had a amd 4400x2 on air with a arctic freezer 7 pro at 1.65v at 2.7ghz and it idled at 26-28c and full load at 65-70c which was a bit high i couldnt get it any lower the full load on air.

now i have a core 2 duo E6600 at 3ghz on stock volts with a Fanless scythe Ninja cooler and it idles at 27c and full load at 48c.

and both are tested in same case etc infact there was more fans in the case with my amd when i had my amd cause i tryed to keep it cooler.

now i only have half as many fans and it stays cool :) even with a fanless cooler.

alltho if you allready have a water cooling setup. then you might aswell go for it.

i think of it this way: having good cooling fans in your case is great. and if there in a place where you can attach a rad, then its a bounus ;) and with the bonus there you should use it, or loose it. cooler temps could make a cpu last longer. not sure how much by tho

im thinking about getting water cooling.. i dont need it but it would be a new experience for me as iv allways had air
