As per title. Looking to buy from a private seller and a bit wary of sellers choosing ebay rather than autotrader.

A write off regardless of category will always show in an HPI check, you should be HPI'ing cars that you are serious about viewing to ensure that they aren't written off or subject to an active finance agreement.

If it's listed as a write off, then no obviously not.

If it's not advertised as a write off, I'd still be HPI'ing anything I was interesting in going to see. I'd not be wasting my time going to see cars that then turn out to have a chequered past or outstanding finance, I'd rather do the search up-front.

It's not listed as a write off but you know how ebay is ;)
So if this is something that can be easily verified in the V5 (will ask for a photo of it) I don't need to proceed to do a HPI check if it is a write off

Apparently it's cat N after I did an online check. Can't trust anything the seller says now about what the damage was as he withheld this info.

nothing will show on logbook as far as im aware, nothing wrong with viewing something and then doing a check, if he has withheld it may be worth investigating as how long have they owned and do they know? if they knowingly withheld the info then deffo walk away

There is a free way to check if the car has any category.
if you have the reg number,
Start creating an add on autotrader with that reg number and it will show if the car is any Category.
