Hiya as title really got a couple of 25 litre drums (in theory airtight) full of diesel in the shed that are about 6 months old, I would have thought they would be ok just thought it worth checking before i fill the van up with it!

Naa it's not as volatile as petrol, It'll be fine. If the drums are metal and they've been stood a while, sometimes you can get a bit of rust in with the derv which isn't so good so a filter would be advised, but that's about it.

thought as much will pop it in (ohh err). do diesels have a system for seperating water from the diesel?

Edit *they are plastic pesticide type drums so no danger of rust :) *

boss decided to start up a biodiesel production line at work (used rapeseed oil methanol in a big tank with a heating element etc) as it worked out at about 55p a litre all in, he was then told that because he didnt have the correct insurance etc to cover us making/storing/using the methanol and caustic at work he could get his ass sued badly so got me and the other bloke to make get rid of all the equipment I got some free diesel out of the bargain ;) I had/still have a petrol car so it hasnt been of much use to me till now!

(comprehensive enough an explanation :D ? )
