Does how you are personally perceived affect how your threads/posts are seen?

I'm back baby!
Someone mentioned in Tru's thread that people would've got on his back had he done similar. Is the fact that Tru's posts have been consistently funny for years (<3 Tru) a factor in seeing his thread as worthwhile (at least until Zefan started ;)) when had it been started by one who hasn't really given anything over a long period, or is a new member, it might have been viewed very differently, and maybe even trolled?

I've been told many, many times by people that they're surprised I can have posted as many posts as I have without spamming. Even going so far as to say they've never once seen a spammy post from me. I know for a fact that when I've wanted to chillax and not really have to switch on I've posted some drivel, and had late night convos with other creatures of the night when I've been on shift. These things I'd consider spam, but because its still a small percentage of my overall postcount are they perceived differently?

Pah.

I think ones repuation sticks with them for a long time, for instance I judge nearly every regular based on their previous posts content before I've even read the actual post I see in front of me. A bit silly yes, but I can't help it.

I think that I understand longer established members posts more, you know how they are as people more, you know if they tend to be sarkie, funny etc or if they tend to be seriose all the time, so you can take their posts how they ment them to be taken, with new members you don't have that backround knolage.

That makes sense. When deciphered :p

I suppose it is only natural to be more accepting of people you're aware of. Although, in balance of that, if they're seen to be crap posters (KiZz or megsy for example - not that I'm saying they necessarily are, just that this seems to be the perception of them) then surely they should be judged more harshly than some poor nublet you've not seen post before.

Definitley depends on the forumer. :(
So it would seem.

Is this a conscious choice?

I am what I am; those that have met me can verify that ;)

I'm dry, cutting, quick-witted and prone to overblown bouts of screaming sarcasm and condescension.

its amazing how humans can fool themselves so easly.

oooo fighting talk.

If you actually looked in to reasons as to why I might've posted that you'd probably have realised that I was saying that as it was the only alternative to saying "Oh yes, I am a dirty dirty spammer, sorry Gilly I'll change :( :( :( "

Not fooling myself, just being myself. Whether being myself involves fooling myself I do not know.

Be that as it may, I was asking whether it affects how people perceive your threads, not how you yourself are perceived.

tbh I'd rather you stayed a dirty spammer so I can take the **** out of your dirty spamming.

Does ":/" not count as spam?
Note: I never said I didn't spam. In fact I said completely the opposite.

However, to answer your question, in context ':/' does not equal spam, no.

Gilly knows he spams just like everyone (well, maybe not like me) else, to me he's pointing out other forum browsers ignorance and probable brown nosing.
