Does iPlayer HD require a faster graphics card?

I have just got a 1920x1080 monitor and just tried checking out BBC HD on iPlayer, but the picture is quite jerky. I have only got a AMD 3000+ (939) and a FX5200 (AGP). Do you think I need a new graphics card or maybe faster CPU?

I would say get a better GPU, although you are going to find the choices pretty limited on AGP now.

May be better off building a new low power system, either around AMD 790GX or Nvidia 9400m based board.

I don't think Iplayer uses hardware assisted decoding, so it'll be your CPU holding you back.

In fact i just checked and my CPU is hitting 100%, so it is a good possibility that might be the issue.

And on Adobe's site it recommends the following for HD with Flash Player ...

1,920x1,080 (1080p) 24 fps

Intel Core Duo 1.8GHz, AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4200+ processor (or equivalent)
128MB of RAM
64MB of VRAM

Oh I think I am close. Just did a 10% bus overclock from 200Mhz to 220Mhz (9x multipler so CPU from 1800MHz to 1980Mhz) and now the CPU bouncies from about 98% upto 100% while playing, whereas before it was max'ed.

I think if I can push the clock another 5% or so I might be OK.
