Does it make sense to get a second PG279Q for productivity?

I am currently using a PG279Q at home. At work, in my company we all use multiple monitor setups and at home I feel like I am missing something. At home I game and I do programming and video editing fairly often. A second monitor would be very nice but the problem is I am not sure if I should ditch my PG279Q.

The reason that I want to ditch my PG279Q is it is almost 3 years old. It is an amazing monitor but does getting another PG279Q (which was released in 2015) make sense?

Is there any alternative to it? For example, I can go for double Acer Predator Gaming X34 but does it make sense?

My options:
- Keep using single PG279Q and be content with it until something better (really worth buying) comes along.
- Get another gaming or non-gaming monitor, put it next to PG279Q; use both for productivity tasks and use only PG279Q for gaming.
- Go get another PG279Q
- Ditch PG279Q and go buy X amount of [insert here model and monitor manufacturer]

I would stay away from Acer Predator range. IMO you can buy a LG 43inch monitor and split the screens like a four screen setup/ two screens

The predator range is fine in my opinion. The 27” I have is great and having had the x34 in the past it is also excellent. Especially for desktop and work use as well as 21:9 gaming.

I wouldn’t get another 279Q I’ve tried 3 before and they all had horrible yellow whites and almost top third of the screen appeared yellow on a white background. Very off putting for desktop window use. quite a number of videos on YouTube highlighting the issue.

I run two Asus PG279Q's now, as I have found them much better experience personally for gaming and work. I previously had a LG34UC98 which was great for work but I didn't gel with it for gaming.

For productivity work having another 144+Hz display might not be essential - I'm currently using a 21:9 60Hz (overclocked to 75Hz) IPS along side my 1440p 144Hz G-Sync main monitor and it is fine.

This. Get another non-gaming monitor of the same pixel density. Indeed I strongly suggest having the non-gaming monitor in portrait mode. It makes the OCUK forum look so much better.

This too. Same pixel density is a crucial point, unless you only use a 2nd screen for a completely different purpose e.g. watching TV/streaming/films. Personaly, I can't live without two monitors at work/home now, my brain is wired to multi-task or game/watch at the same time. Not sure about portrait mode, but it's a nice thing to have you might prefer it for some stuff.

I will be getting a Dell UltraSharp U2715H as a second monitor. It seems like exactly what I need: 27inch and 1440p (the same pixel density as PG279Q); IPS Panel; good color reproduction.
