Depends on the board for dual channel, typically you want the RAM in the closest socket to the CPU and the corresponding dual channel slot (there are rare excpetions though).

Your motherboard manual will have some information. Generally the slots are matched in pairs and are often colour-coded. Some people have reported advantages from using certain slots on certain motherboards but without knowing what motherboard you are using it's impossible to say.

It is probable that you would get better ultimate performance from having two 'matched' RAM sticks, but within most people's usages, it makes little difference.

well i tryed all slots and makes me think what the ****.made no diffenerence dual channel my arse tested variuos benchmarks virtually no difference.whichever slot it was in.

Usually says in POST screen "Dual Channel Enabled" or something similar. You usually have to use matched pairs for it to work properly, but it can work if you are lucky. You must not have been lucky. You put the matched pairs into the same coloured slots . . in your case yellow and yellow. Thats why OcUK sells kits which include 2 sticks.

have you read the rules regarding swearies? It could be that your two similar specification modules aren't similar enough to run dual channel.
