Does it sound like my battery is on it's last legs?

just been onto Halfords, typed my reg number in, and the 2 batteries come up are NOT suitable for start/stop
how do i know which AGM battery will fit mine then ?

As far as I know any AGM battery will suffice, if those batteries aren’t suitable for stop start they can’t be AGM or even EFB batteries. Best to consult an expert before purchasing.

yeah seems logical , need to find an expert, although i have just gone to Yuasa website , came back with just 1

EFB, no AGM

if i can find an AGM version, that be good

sorry for the tread hi-jack :)

At its age (9 years) it's on its way out regardless, just change it then you'll discover if it's something else like some random drain or other.

Either way, at its age it'll soon need replacing regardless so you may as well do it at least then you'll be able to rule out the battery as the issue.

FWIW my trucks batteries still read 28v even after 12 hours parked up with an auxiliary heater running and other equipment ie way above the rated 24v

Instead of 12.63V I'd be expecting 13-14+ with a healthy unit.

I believe your Mazda 3 comes with an EFB battery, that's why the Yuasa site recommends a EFB battery for your car when you search by car manufacturer. That's not to say you can't upgrade it to an AGM but you must replace it with an EFB at the very least.
If I search the Yuasa site for a battery to fit my car it comes up with this EFB…

https://www.yuasa.co.uk/ybx7027.html

In the related products it comes up with this AGM…

https://www.yuasa.co.uk/ybx9027.html

Both batteries are the same size so both should fit. Are there any AGM related products to the EFB battery it recommends for your car, or is there nothing?

Fair enough, as it happens I contacted one of the distributors I found through their website and got a price on the Yuasa YBX7027 EFB battery which fits my car. It was £112.35 and in stock.

My current EFB battery is 6.5 years old and showing no sign of packing up just yet, but I know where to go when I need one.

This battery is £91.75 on Tayna. Postage is about £8.

Ive just replaced the battery on my Civic that was 7.5 years old with an AGM from Tayna batteries. I first went to Costco who advised on £138 so I took a picture of it, googled it to find out Tayna were £14 cheaper and local so no postage.

Out of nowhere it wouldn't turn over a couple of weeks ago, a jump start sorted it. Since then the immobiliser kept on getting triggered as the power was so low, and if it didnt start on the first turn it was too low to turn again and the imob kicked in again. Still 7 and a half years is a great innings.

Sigh, re-reading this thread makes me think I should move this up my priority list.

8 years old, pretty sure it's the original one since it says Detroit on It.

I also cannot see "Tayna" without my brain translating it as "Tanya"

Weirdly my local Halfords do the Yuasa one for my car cheaper than Yuasa.
