Does Mass Effect 2 deserve its game of the year 2010 Award?

Looking to pick up an RPG.

Either Mass Effect 2 or New Vegas.

Iv played both Mass Effect and Fall Out 3. Loved Fallout didnt like Mass Effect.

But Mass Effect 2 has been awarded game of the year, on all platforms!!!

Then again this time last year Mass Effect was also game of the year, and I didnt like it, so maybe Im best served with New Vegas...

What you reckon?

If you didn't like Mass Effect it seems unlikely that Mass Effect 2 would be that great for you.

Totally deserves it in my opinion, The second game is vastly different to the first in terms of combat, much more action/shooter based than the first game.However the story and roleplaying aspects are the same as the first. So it depends on what you actually didn't like about the first game.

For me tho ME2 is one of, if not the best game i've played in the past few years

Can't think of any games this year that even come close to ME2.

I didnt like the shooting aspect of the game felt too much like Gears of War.

I didnt like 1st mass effect, 2nd game is great though. new vegas is my game ofthe year even though its the buggiest game ive ever played

If you didn't like the first one for that reason then you're not going to enjoy the 2nd game as it moves its combat further towards that playstyle.

I am not much an RPG person, I hate the new fall out games, oblivion is meh. But Mass Effect 1 & 2 are great, even the wife doesn't mind sitting there watching me play them as they are like films

Great films in my opinion and yes, it does deserve the title

Don't know about new vegas as i haven't played it yet but mass effect 2 is a great game, although I loved the first one too!

Mass effect is better then ME2 imo.

Id deffinately go with fallout NV if you didnt like the first ME.

It was only due to the combat on ME1 that made it a no-go for me. I did, however, like the demo of the second, so will pick this up soon. Must get around to getting this, Mafia 2 and BFBC2.

Same. Got ME2 after seeing the videos of the re-vamped combat system and it was great. Probably would be my GOTY.

ME2 and New Vegas are very different games despite having the same genre. Out of the two I'd still go for ME2 though.
