Does McDonald's secret menu exist?

Here in the States I think most of the major chains have a so called secret menu. AFAIK, it's stuff that was a limited release or stuff they no longer carry, but if they have the "parts" and the staff are in the know they can do it for you. It's obviously unofficial though, so you can't go complaining to head office if they won't do it ;)

That's how it was explained to me by one of the wife's cousins who is a manager at BK. <shrug>

Might be the case in the BK where they microwave stuff, but definitely not in Mcdonalds. All the grills are specifically set up for cooking times of certain meats patties. The breakfast menu thus can't be cooked at the same time as it requires changing up all the grills and it's a pain in the ass.
Most of the franchise owners are douches and don't let you do anything.
As a previous staff member, on lunch breaks we would make our own combination of stuff, but never for the customers as it could not be put through the tills.

I saw someone ask for the 'special menu' a few years ago, the two employees behind the counter briefly looked at each other, then one of them said 'bring out the gimp'!

I do remember seeing a video many years ago called 'ghetto big mac' where you order a quarter pounder but tell them to make it a certain way and it turns out as a big mac.

Burger King didn't microwave stuff when I worked there (albeit 15 years ago now)

The only thing the microwaves was used for was a 5 second blast to melt the cheese over the flame-grilled patties. They weren't used for any type of cooking though

My mistake, I always saw them pulling them out of those trays and heating them. Guess they are flame grilled and stored.

I seem to remember the Quarter Pounder Deluxe was a secret menu item until a few years ago. TBH they will make anything you ask them to. They do custom orders.

PLAN FORMING....

Cute girl working behind counter....

ME: Hey, can I have an extra deep backdoor smasher? <wink>

HER: Sure, my shift ends at 5. Meet me outside.

BUT, If not......

HER: WTF? Are you high? SECURITY SECURITY!!

ME: Oh, sorry, I heard it was something on the secret menu!!

Hmmmm.......

When I was there the frozen patties were stored in a big freezer in front of the broiler (similar to the machines they have in Dominos but with flames inside). The patties are put on the moving grill and it goes through and comes out flame-grilled the other side. They are then stored in a steamer like unit for up to 10 minutes to be used (after that they are binned). If you are ordering a burger without cheese or bacon then it wasn't put in the microwave at all. If you had cheese or something that supposed to be warm (like bacon or mushrooms) on it then it is put there for 5-10 seconds to heat/melt the toppings before the rest of the salad is added.

If not being made to order, it is put on the hot plate for a maximum of 10 minutes before being binned.
