Does missing a few days off school hurt?

With the amount of opportunities to resit your exams should you do badly I would say no. If you can't catch up the others by doing a little extra work at the weekend then you really aren't going to be too bothered about your results anyway.

Depends what year you're in really...

I'd say it didn't really matter up until y12/13, but then miss a day and you're screwed with the amount you've missed... Saying that a couple of the guys at school who must have only turned up to about half our English lessons in y13 ended up with 6A*'s at A Level... Go figure...

Yeah I think the 90% attendance mark is fine aswell.

I used to 'mutch' off days when coursework was due in, when I'd basically been too lazy to do it.

I think having a 1-2 days off here and there doesn't do much harm, but when we're talking 3-5 days at a time. Thats when thing's are probably going to get tougher. Some people can catch up a lot quicker than others though.

No, in fact I would say it makes you a much 'better' person. Only a mindless, souless drone with no vision has 100% attendance. They like to think they're a person, but they're not. It takes someone with character, vision and soul to break from the rules once in a while.

You'll also learn/develop other life skills by doing it.

Nothing wrong with taking a day off if you're sick but if you start bunking off it can become a problem. I messed up my GCSEs by taking too much time off, luckily i still got good enough grades to do A-Levels. But that's just me. I got onto a slippery slope of missing work then bunking off more because i was behind.

I managed to get it under control and haven't missed a day of college yet. Plus if you need a reference from the school they will mention your attendance.

I missed a few lessons of French and it messed me over so much that I couldn't follow any lesson afterwards. If my parents disciplined me more, they would have made me catch up and I wouldn't have had a problem. Being 12, though, I didn't bother.

Depends how good you are at the subjects, whether you can learn the material quickly on your own, whether you bother to catch up and probably a bunch of other stuff I haven't thought.

The main thing that got me about skipping school was how it impacts your work ethic overall - every time you miss a day, it seems less important. I ended up with around 40% attendance in upper sixth, and dropped from As to Bs. The main thing that let me down though was coursework, which I had no motivation to do until the last minute.

Well sometimes I would be "ill" so needed a day of school :p
All a* so never did me any harm. Depends if you can catch up and drones onyou entirely.
