does partition make the pc slower

one quick question, i have a laptop with a 60gig hard drive, if i partion the hard drive to have 50/50 partition, will this make the laptop run slower, or is it better to keep the complete 60gig hard drive as one.

It'll only make it run slower if you then start running out of room on whichever drive the swap files on, which you're more likely to do as you can have only half the hard drive filled and have one partition entirley filled. As long as you're sensible with it there should be no difference though.
