Does Ring Speed affect Core O/C?

So if I have proven that the ring can do 4.4Ghz with a core clock of 4.7, does that mean I can rule out ring as a problem when trying for 4.8 on the core with the ring at 4.4?

Hope that makes sense!

I'm using Auto ring voltage BTW.

Hi,

.... what are you on about?

Best to drop uncore whilst OC'ing core Rich, it can limit the core OC. e.g, i'm struggling to bring mine up past x43 on a x50 core. If i drop the core i can raise uncore no problem. (this is all for 24/7 stable OC's).

Benching you'll be able to run uncore higher as it won't need to be as stable.

Thanks Doug, that is what I wanted to know.

I'll leave Uncore at x43 for now until I have found out how far I can take the core.

Many thanks.

Read up on Haswell and all will become clear.

OP. Get the core stable first with uncore at stock. Then when you have found out the max for core do the same with uncore. Finally, clock the ram. Keep an eye on temps because playing with ring voltage can heat them up even more.

Thanks pasty.

What do you guys do about uncore voltage?

Leave on auto on what?

Guides I have read say to use an uncore voltage of 1.1-1.2. However my mobo only lets me use an offset.

I'm on auto at the moment and 4.3Ghz Uncore uses nearly 1.3v.

I tend to leave uncore at [email protected] (override/manual, whatever your board does) whilst doing core then bring it up after. IIRC my 24/7 is [email protected].

I just didn't see any need to spend lots of time on it/try to raise it higher when it makes an insignificant difference for daily duties.

Mine is the same as my core, 45x with 1.3v uncore/ring voltage. Probably makes little difference in day to day tasks but i paid for a K series so i may as well get all i can out of it. You can set the lowest it will go too. Mine is set to 8x at idle, same as the core.
