Does such a phone exist?

I'm sick to death of the utterly terrible battery life my iPhone 5S now has (tried replacing the battery, no difference to longevity), down to 50% or so at the moment (came off charge at 6:30 this morning).

I'd like a relatively small phone certainly no bigger than 5", but I'd also like it to be metal/uni bodied, I'm not a fan of plastic fantastic phones at all. I'd also like it to have a greater than FHD display (my Lumia 950 has an awesomely crisp display, being 2K), and to have a very good camera (again, something that rivals my Lumia 930 and 950). Android with as close to stock (or stock) experience as possible (I'm not against reflashing with a custom ROM if needed), I'm not interested in Android Pay (so unlocking bootloaders etc doesn't bother me). Needs to be snappy to use, so no mid to low end spec either.

EDIT: Would also like (but not essential if the internal ROM is 32GB or higher) an SD card slot.

Is there anything out there that fits the bill? I'm yet to find anything.

Lumia 950 has a 1440p/QHD/2K screen btw.

The closest phone I can think of is the Galaxy S7. 5.1" 1440p screen (best in class), top drawer camera (top IQ and focus speed), metal+glass build, great batterylife, quickcharge, waterproof, 32gb +sd .....

The only downside is that it has a Samsung rom, however it is very fast (just as fast as stock android) and the rom has a themeing engine to make it look like stock android. Add that with nova launcher and your left with a very AOSP looking UI

HTH.

The only thing I can think of is the Galaxy S7 (non Edge). At 5.1" it's slightly bigger than desired, but still smaller than your current 5.2" Lumia and it has the same resolution at 1440p (sorry to disappoint but the 950 and 950 XL do not have 4k screens). It's got 32GB ROM and SD card expansion and has possibly the best smartphone camera around this generation.

The one let down on this phone, and the main reason I dislike Samsung, is software. The device however is massively popular so it can't be hard to flash a different version of Android on it (maybe CM13?).

You can also consider the HTC 10 which has mostly the same specs and its stock software is a LOT better than Samsung's (they actually worked with Google to avoid duplicate apps), but if you want to flash a (near) stock Android on the device, the popularity of the S7 will help you find ROMs much quicker.

I meant 2k, no idea why i said 4k :/

Anyway, should have said in the OP, can't stand Samsung devices.

Definitely don't want another iPhone.

I'd drop to a 1080p screen if the device was <5" and the build quality was outstanding.

Well seeing as the 950 is 5.2" as well, the HTC 10 sounds like something you're after. HTC really toned down Sense so it's very close to stock Google Android. They actually removed some of their HTC apps in favour of Google's.

People seem to be confusing "what I have now" with "what I want".

The 950 is irrelevant, that's my work device, I don't carry it when I'm not at work.

The "new phone" is what I'm replacing my iPhone 5S with, hence wanting a smaller device.

We're trying to compromise "what you want" with "what is actually possible". The phone you're describing in the OP, to my knowledge, does not exist. Although dropping to 1080p will open up a few more options.

Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia X (Performance), HTC One M8 or M9...

I'm more trying to think "outside the box" as it were. The main brands I know what's out there, the lesser known brands, not so much.

The styling of the M8 and M9 are, well, meh. Xperias don't really appeal either, although the last time I used one was a few years back now. I had a Z2 tab and wasn't enamoured with the quality.

It's been a few years since I was last "in" the Android ecosystem (Had a One X), so have lost touch with the newer emerging players in the market.

Depending on quality of the fit and finish, yes I'm not against any brands until I've read into them.

I'm not just going to jump in with my eyes closed based on spec and spec alone, I'll do reading on anything suggested.

Read into the S7 - Touchwiz software has moved on leaps and bounds in the last few years. This is coming from a Nexus owner.

Also a Nexus 5 owner here, recently bought a Galaxy S7 Edge and love it. The Samsung software is fine. You can disable TouchWiz if you want and go back to stock Android if you root etc. but I actually quite like Samsung's touches here and there, they've added some nice features.

Battery is 75% after the day.

That is the Edge though, which is a bit bigger than your spec. The normal S7 is 5.1" and has slightly lower battery capacity. Can't really comment on it.
