I have a T Mobile web and walk USB modem stick. I'm wondering if there is a way to connect my iphone to the laptop I use and when the laptop is connected to the internet via the USB stick I can then use it to connect the iphone to the internet for updating etc. I'm a newcomer to iphones, this is my first one, it's a 2G 8Gb one.

I know you can do what I want to do sort of the other way around, I used to use my MDA Vario IV as a broadband modem to connect to T Mobile before I got the USB stick but is there a way ( or indeed an app ) to do it the other way around as detailed above?.

Thanks.:)

I agree, but I'm talking about when I'm not connected to a wireless network or not in a good reception area and speeds are slow on the iphone but I can get a good signal and high speed on the dongle.

You probably can do this by setting up some WiFi ad-hoc network and bridge it to your dongle connection.

Not saying it would would but it might do

I can confirm that that this does indeed work, I have done it with my o2 dongle. Set up an adhoc network as suggested and then turn on internet sharing in system prefs.
