Does the PS3 analogue controller have 'too much play'?

My Sixaxis feels great, really responsible on Prologue, the Sixaxis I have now came from a January 40Gb pack.

It's a responsible controller? :p
As mentioned above (and several times in the past), the SA controllers with the 40gb consoles is a lot better than those on launch consoles.

While the deadzones are indeed fixed in the new Sixaxis, the analogues on the dualshock3 are still far superior. They move much more freely and because of this it is easier to perform subtle movements when aiming etc (Drakes fortune).

I own a sixaxis that came with my 40gig and a DS3.

My Six Axis seems fine for me and I've not noticed it being a poor build quality, but it is from a 40GB purchased in February.

played half of Drakes Fortune with 60gig sixaxis and half with white DS3 and noticed no difference what so ever in aiming or response/travel

I diddnt really notice a problem with my siaxis until i had to buy a new one to replace my launch day controller. Whilst playing GH3 I rocked a little too hard and managed to stomp on it causing both analogue sticks to become complete "dead zones" :( The power of the riff compelled me!!

My new Siaxis seems much more responsive.

Oh what the hell! I saw that and meant to edit out then suddenly forgot.

Yeah heard of the newer ones having the better controllers, though to be fair I don't notice any difference between the PS3 I got back in May 2007, but I didn't play/keep it long enough to remember much from the controller. :p

I actually get on quite well with the PS3 controller now, though on GT5:P I wish there was a vibration as an indication of when to change gear in manual transmission instead of having to watch the bottom right meter! (Still need to get a DS3)
