My wife is starting out as a wedding planner so I've made her a website in Wordpress, just want to know what people think of the colour scheme. All text on the site at the moment is just temporary and will be rewritten.

edit/ I've changed the theme colours to white, haven't made all the changes yet though but let me know what you think.

The colours are good and all, but not sure about using them for wedding planning. Perhaps think about pastels on white?

I was going for a modern and contemporary look, near enough all wedding websites use light and pastel type colours.

I'll be breaking the site up with pictures and possibly adding a butterfly logo in the same pink if I can draw it well enough or find a free picture.

Colour Scheme could work but I find that the text isn't too easy to read, maybe brighten that up a bit. I think the main body of the website will work with that colour scheme, I just feel that the background is too dark, the site doesn't come across with a wedding vibe if you understand me.

Think I agree, the pink in the logo works well on the black background and is quite striking I feel but the same pink is quite hard to read on the dark grey background of the page.

imo the colour scheme isn't particularly weddingy, there is a reason most will be light, just as there is a reason most dresses will be white and not black, it's what most customers will want. Other then the fact you like the dark colours, is there a reason it was chosen for this business?

i think the pink doesn't match the white too well. the pink isn't bright enough or the white is too bright. also think the colour for the links in the paragraphs is a poor choice and a pink would stand out much better

I'm not being horrible but black would be cool if you wifey was going to be an undertaker.

White and pastel colours for wedding stuffs ***.

Nice site though, you are a talented man!

Fair enough, I think there's a reason wedding websites use pastels mind you. The scheme as it is combined with the name make me think "gay nightclub"

As pink is (I guess) non negotiable, have a look at:

Just a comment unrelated to the design as I've caught this thread late, but about the packages: "plus 10% of the final budget."

Is that normal? Most brides don't even know what their budget is, and with last minute purchases this will be constantly changing. And it'll make people want to fiddle the "books" to get the service cheaper. Just seems like quite a bit of faff to me for both the client and your wife.

Apparently some charge up to 30% from what my wife has said, not too sure on how it's calculated, it might just be x% on all of the services that the wedding planner has arranged, so say the venue costs £10,000 and the planner arranges it all they'll take a £1,000 cut or whatever percentage they're charging.

Once my wife fully explains it to me I'll make it clearer on the site or just remove it altogether if I still don't get it :p

imo sites shouldn't have the tips bit unless it's really relevant. do you think viewers will ever want to read that page and that it adds anything to their experience. if anything i'd say it's distracting from the purpose of the site and what she does. the new pink looks better and the site looks smart as you say. is smart the best choice though?

The changes have made an improvement, but when I first see the site it doesn't strike me as being a wedding site. Sadly I think you'll have to add a lot more white/light colours to make it work for your potential customers.

Black can work for weddings but it still has to be clear. We use black for our business because it gives off a higher end/luxury feel. Our website however is white as you have 2 seconds to get that wedding "feel" across: www.idoweddingfilms.co.uk

But then we use black for things such as our brochure (PDF), business cards and banners. So if it's something you both like you can still use that to enhance your image :).

Nice, I like the white theme.

I would say the following though:

1) Perhaps some of the content on the main page could use some fixes/changes? it's not obvious straight away what it is Pink Butterfly does until you start reading the content.

Perhaps start the content saying that Pink Butterfly is a wedding planning service then go on to say about how it was started etc.

But then i'd question if people would be that interested in knowing how it was started, is it really necessary to fill up the in your face content home page with information people might not be that bothered about?

I like to eat Subway for example but i'm not really that interested in how the Subway chains were started up :)

Perhaps you could ensure all this kind of info is available in the About section instead in case people want to dig deeper into the site?

2) The logo is almost screaming out for a logo image of a pink butterfly to go with it. You know one of those one/two tone filled images could look really good.

3) It may be a bit easier for reading the text if you don't have the patterned background going through the page content as well? I'd almost say to revervse the patterned/non patterned areas of the page that you have setup right now.

4) Generally your images work pretty well, but I don't think the picture of the Rolls Royce logo on the Contact Me page really works. Images imho should be somewhat relevant to the page topic/content to make sense!

5) Your contact form should have some kind of Captcha or similar, nothing too difficult, but it would stop people spamming your form. I find a simple 4 digit number Captcha works well.

Just some ideas/advice, take it or leave it, you/others may not agree with me but I don't believe in sugar coating things!
