^Thissss, Engineers recently got planets and it's like space lego anyway.
Star Citizen isn't that expensive, I paid 45 in dollars and got access to everything mostly and 2/3 ships. The content is getting there but I would give it time.

Space Engineers. Do everything in that.
I'd take a look at Space Engineers as well.
I was actually on it until the early hours of the morning trying to perfect a fighter that works in both space and atmosphere. Almost got it right, just have a little issue to sort whereby a single direct missile hit completely obliterates it, but using heavy armour makes it too heavy to fly
The scale is mental now that planets have been added in, the graphics are pretty basic but it's pretty stunning when you spawn in a 1:1 scale super star destroyer that blots out the sun
Sounds like you want Elite Dangerous just now although ironically due to DLC it's getting pretty expensive to get now.
Star Citizen isn't expensive to get into just now but in a few weeks they're splitting the single player and multi player games into two and selling them separately so it'll cost twice as much if you want to do both.
No man's sky is one I'm really keen on getting, I know it'll have it's limitations but even David Braben and Chris Roberts are keen on it

Note - a lot of the negative reviews are around multiplayer balance, I always play solo. It's a lot more polished than Planet Explorers, which just annoyed me.

Seen some videos of people flying between planets, mining, looting, base building and fighting.
Could be worth as look as its 40% off in the Steam Sale
looked at a few reviews....looks really good! ohh how i WISH how Elite dangerous could have stuff like this game has in it. Sadly no lol

Exactly what I did
I don't mind poor graphics and it clearly is liked a lot by people but I couldnt play it the graphics look like something off the PlayStation 1
