Does it support Ivybridge?

If so does it support it out of the box or does it need a bios update.

Edit: The CPU support list says it does so that's a start. But do you have to update the bios?

Yes it does support Ivy Bridge but may require a BIOS upgrade according to this thread.

It supports it since BIOS version FC which was released on 21/2/2012.

Hopefully current stock will have at least that BIOS version.

You can buy a Z77 motherboard which will guarantee compatability for around the same money.

It should support it with a bios update, but for similar money, you can pick up an equivalent Z77 board, which will give access to things like PCI-e 3.0 and a few other extras, so I would recommend looking at some Z77 boards for comparison.

Watch out if you want to overclock a K series Ivy Bridge chip you will need to flash it to the unfinnished UEFI beta bios.
