Does this seem like a wise move?

So if my motherboard were SLI capable, I would be all over the 460s. But it isn't.

So.....

Would it make sense to flog my 5770s for circa £190 now before the price drops, and pick up a new 5850 for £0 outlay, meaning I can crossfire again in the future when they get cheaper and cheaper?

I know I will lose a chunk of FPS, but I'm guessing this could be marginally countered by some light overclocking (the 5770s are stock).

Sound logical? I plan to stick with my Q9550 and i45 for at least 2 more years, so switching to an SLI mobo and the like would be more effort than it's worth.

Also, I know 8x / 8x crossfire means little with 5770s, but would it have a larger impact on crossfired 5850s?

As a very rough rule of thumb 2x 5770 will give =>5870 performance depending of course on drivers and scaling (which is pretty good on the ATI mid range cards) and a HD5850 can be clocked to give 5870 performance (in some titles that are clock sensative) so yes it sounds like a plan.

Where are you planning on selling those 5770's? Members Market?

Will try there, then another forum, then the Bay if I get no bites.
