Cheers am looking at the airport extreme too now and have posted in the Apple Hardware sub forum for feedback!

They're pretty solid units, but iirc it will not do what you want.

Seriously, just scrap the wireless bridge idea and make the powerlines work or bite the bullet and find a neat way of running a cable.

After you've done all that and it's still slow then I'd look at upgrading your wireless.

Just to follow up on this I've got a couple ideas.

Short Term I'm using my powerline adapters which are 5 times quicker than wireless
Long Term Run an external grade network cable from the loft of the house into the loft in the garage and drop the cable into the bedroom in from the ceiling!
