Hi,

I'm looking for a netbook that NEEDS to have the following:

7" Screen (cannot be bigger)
At least 4GB SSD
At least 512MB RAM
Built in Wifi and Bluetooth (not a huge problem if it doesn't have BT but would make life easier as I wouldn't need as many usb devices!)

Also, would have to be touchscreen moddable.

The only one I can find is the Asus EEE 701 / 4G which I have already got (but doesn't have bluetooth) but was wondering if there was anything else available which ticks all the boxes but is maybe a bit more powerful and has BT?

Also, would it be beneficial to go for an Atom based solution over the Celeron M that's in the EEE?

Cheers!

I'd say the EEE 701 as you've identified. If you are modding it for touchscreen then an internal BT mod would not be much more effort. Or why not get the 901? Isn't it the same size?

Alternatively you can now get really tiny BT USB adapters that hardly stick out at all. You could leave that installed permanently without really noticing it.

Yeah I have one of those mini adapters, I didn't think of internal BT mod tbh...will look into that - any guides you know of?

All the 901's I've see are 8.9" screens?

What about performance - does the atom provide a considerable performance increase (it'll be used for running a Car PC front end - graphical but not really demanding)

The 901 has an 8.9" screen, but might not actually be so much larger than the 7" in the 701, as the 701 has a fair bit of 'bezel & speakers' around the screen IIRC ?

I find the Atom pretty fine for most things, such as internet, Office, music and so on. Think one of the key advantages over the Celeron is power usage and newer, more efficient architecture......

And, of course, the 901 is a world apart in spec :)
