Botulism lives in cattle, and AFAIK beef =/= tomato soup, neither does salmon :]
Actually Clostridium botulinum is prevalent in the environment.
Tins of food have been open from the Napoleonic Wars, they found the produce to be fresh but very very deadly.They used to use lead to seal the cans.

Ok yeah you're right however, the tin should still be safe and if not, boiling would kill C.botulinum
