Title says it all. Just ordered myself the BenQ 24" XL2420T TRUE 120hz 3D Monitor with 3D Vision 2.0 kit bundle and wondered wether I should expect an fps loss. My Current monitor is 22" 1920x1080 so I doubt I would lose fps as It is going to be the same resolution however I wondered wether 3D May cause it?

Thanks :D

when running in 3dvision your perceived FPS will be halved because it is frame-sequential. I.E in 2d mode you get 90 fps, switch to 3d and you get 45fps per eye (still 90).

As for any additional frame loss due to the 3d itself.. I haven't noticed any, but I mostly use 3d for blu rays atm and ahve only really played skyrim in 3d where the frame rate isn't a massive concern.

Hmm okay, with my current setup I usually get 60 fps - don't know what exact fps I'm getting as I only have a 60hz monitor with the 120 fps I should be able to see. That way I should know whether to lower some game settings or not

The graphics card has to process a different frame for each eye so you get a significant reduction in frame rate due to the extra processing. As above perceived frame rate is also lower - a maximum of 60fps per eye on a 120Hz monitor and hence the call for 120Hz in the first place.

You'll lose approx 40%, well mine did
whyscotty, when you say you lose approx. 40%, can you clarify please?

Do you mean on top of the halving you get from having to display two images per frame? For example, if your FPS without 3D Vision was 100, are you saying you would get 50 less 40% equals 30 per eye (60 frames per second total)?

Thanks.
