Does Waxing Give A Significant Visual Difference?

As you obviously don't do it yourself you may as well get the coating, makes washing it easier.
If like a lot of us we enjoy the process ourselves then it's not worth it. Though it's not like applying wax twice a year is hard work.

This is pretty much what one of the chaps at Autobrite told me today. Popped along to get the C63 looked at for a bit of paintwork correction. If you can't or haven't got the time to spend a few hours cleaning then ceramic coatings are convenient but you don't mind it then it's probably not worth it.

Every 3 months? You need to buy a wax that isn't absolute butt juice. Collinite is the wax of choice. It lasts up to a whole year.

And yes, it does make a big difference, but mostly when used in conjunction with a polish underneath such as Autofinesse Triple. The polish will reduce, fill in and mask away light scratches, webbing and so on leaving a deeper gloss. Polishes don't last long at all, maybe weeks to a couple of months in UK weather. That is why a wax on top of that will provide year long longevity and amplify the deep gloss.

You don't need anything else. This is my experience on my cars over many many years of trying many different products and settling on the two mentioned for paint care.

Used colinite too. Very good. Specially on wheels. Makes very, very easy to clean. The only advice is don't let anywhere near plastic trim. A nightmare to remove.

Do the ceramics stick to a glaze/filler polish though ? I always assumed not so have just been sticking to fk1000p which ive loved for years

You can put wax on top of it, so can't see why you can't put FK1000 on top, the ceramic is very easy to apply, add like 10min to the routine.

I find, nowhere scientific, just an observation, that wax is more sticky, if it is the right term, with water beads, whereas ceramic it seems more slick. The effect is more evident when freshly done.

What collinite are people referring to? 476? How is this thought of relative to AG UHD?

I've tried both 476 and also 845 but 845 is much easier to apply in a way and do last for months. But it needs to be prepared correctly i.e. warmed up so that it is runny.

Can’t say I’ve ever needed to warm 476 up before use although I do dampen the foam applicator and it goes on like a dream.

Can’t say the same about Odk Glamour it gave a brilliant finish and smelt fantastic but was a pig to apply, so much so I threw it in the bin in disgust and went back to collinite.

I think it does, especially when you polish it too! Plus, if you've gone to all the trouble to wash and dry, why not wax/polish? It's already ready to be done :p

Yes 476s Collinite sets the benchmark when it comes to durability. Bang for buck very hard to beat.
And fantastic for wheels. Removing brake dust and dirty is very easy on a treated surface.
The finish is very good. Just don't go near the plastic trims. Had to use Stabilo erasers to remove it. A good afternoon.

I've just tried Collinite for the first time after finally running out of Harly Wax. I must admit I prefer Harly from an application and shine point of view. Too early to tell about durability but I only ever needed to use Harly wax once a year unless I had to polish a panel to remove a mark when I'd give that one area another coat.

Kind of wish I'd bought more Harly Wax instead of about 20 years supply of Collinite :D

You don't warm 476, that is in a tin, it's 845 that needs warmed up. If you don't, it is solid, especially in the winter.

It's in a plastic bottle.

Regarding Meguairs Hybrid Ceramic Wax, It seems that the suggested wet applications doesn't help longevity and to be honest, dry application was very easy, just do small areas at a time! I've got some Megs HCW and have already done a bonnet / boot test on both the X3 (recently fully detailed and ceramic coated, so this is a topper) and then on the M3, I've cleaned all the old waxes off and using this as a single coating, and it's lasted 3 months quite nicely.

And I'm another person that also likes Collinite 476S, it definitely lasts a long time and prior to the Megs HCW, I waxed it once a year and it never stopped beading on each wash.
