Hi all, just need to know if the xvid codec supports ac3 audio since my xivds only play the video and not the sound? Its been like this since i last last reinstalled windows.

Just wondering do i need more codecs or is there a setting in XVID that i can change is it plays the audio in my AVIs?

Thanks :)

Let me clarify myself, xvid is a (open source) codec (as you say), which produces a video file type "xvid" which contains a separate video stream and audio stream, the audio stream can be AC3. :)

Hi guys thanks for your replys. Its just at one time xvid played my AVIs that had AC3 audio.

And now it does not. Just seems weird, I have used the AC3 filters and there ok but i dont understand why ive had to use them when at one time i didnt need them.

Different codec build maybe that you used last time? Some 3rd parties sometimes bundle in other codecs into their XviD packs, such as CCCP although not as bulky. Might have also used another player? Like VideoLAN which has built in codecs.
