Does your other half appreciate good sound?

My better half moved in over a year ago and put away my sub as it looked horrible in the corner. Then told me do we really need speakers? And when we move house no speakers. I think she would be happy with mono sound via pocket speaker.

I told her, I'm having good sound or another girlfriend..

Samsung N950 soundbar with wireless rears and wireless sub is the best compromise.

Yeah i think it needs some compromise.

My wife would much rather my speakers were shoved in a corner where they got put when we moved house but she accepted i love music and wanted them positioned properly. We compromised by me buying some new speakers she can tolerate.

Yep pretty much this which is why I ended up with Monitor Audio Radius speakers. (90's for fronts 45's for rears, 200 for centre) . Sounds awesome mind so no complaints.

Yep, though only to a certain extent. More of a case of she notices if it's "bad".

She has a pair of M500s, and loves them. Interestingly, she mentioned that when she got the new Pixel 3a, the sound quality wasn't as good as her last phone (Honor 9) from the headphone jack.

Women that don't mind or actually like decent sized speaker system and appreciate the better sound, seem to be a rare breed.

Thinking about those who appreciate better sound quality in general; I've only got one male friend who cares about sound quality; the rest are happy to use cheap PC speakers or cheap headsets. :(

Got a mate who spent £500 on headphones then £12 on a terrible mic. Sounded like he was in a cave and picked up everything in his house and was hard to hear him clearly.

He refused to spend more than £20 on a stand mic. As he refused to use clip ons where were substantially cheaper and better.

Some people just dont care.

Everyone I know uses onboard sound.

It also depends on the usage. I like my sound (not as much as others I know spending thousands of £s on speakers/amps), but when gaming on the PC I didn't care about the sound that much. Watching a movie on the other hand, or listening to music yes, but gaming on PC, onboard sound and a pair of low end logitechs were fine.

She usually notices and doesn't mind it quiet. The minute I turn up the bass though all I hear is that she has a headache. loud movies are usually played when she's out

And I presume his OH is happy with the sound from the tv which is invisible to her.

If she’s so unwilling to compromise then in walls or ceiling are probably the best option. They’re expensive to get something decent and will never equal proper speakers but that’s the price you pay.

speakers shouldn't be an issue. if you want sound it needs to come from somewhere. magic doesn't exist lol.

I think the issue when it comes to most women and speakers, is that most want tiny inconspicuous speakers and think you should be able to get good sound from tiny speakers. Most women can't understand why this is not possible. The man then has difficulty trying to explain the connection between larger speakers and good sound. All of which might be in vain anyway, if the woman in question just doesn't care about better sound. *sigh*

Heck, there are plenty of men who think you can get get good sound from tiny speakers, let alone women; hence why there are so many spec me 2.1 speakers threads because I only have enough room on my desk for tiny speakers, but want great sound. *more sigh*

:(

She streams music through Tidal
.. side-slipping slightly .. does otherhalf appreciate flac.

so is that the Tidal normal or flac subscrption ?, have been subscribing to their lossy 320aac service, but, this weekend, temporarily listened on a friends hi-fi account, which permits, at least direct output from windows, removing the sound-mixer, and the 96Khz/24 masters where available,
twas night and day in terms of the attack of the music/bass, and pleasure (both through same external dac / home 2.0 system) .. after my hifi trial years back I had forgotten how good it sounds.

Tidal full subscription inc Master quality through Meridian gear upto MS200, MC200 or 818v3 with DSP 5200 SE, DSP 7200 and DSP8000 SE speakers.
