Dog food Raw V Dry

Doesn't mean a dog cannot catch salmonella from raw chicken.

Dogs digestive system is not like humans, its like super strength acid and salmonella is not really an issue for them. But it could be present in their feces, so I guess if you started eating dog poo salmonella could be a problem for you ;)

We were doing the dry to raw transfer over but after reading comments on here and speaking to a few other people yesterday we gave him a full plate of raw today and it went down well. We've decided to stick to the natures menu raw till 12 months as its an easy 15 nuggets morning and 15 evening. Also last time we signed up to get deliveries from a website COVID happened and it was delayed then we had ran out so had to go to the shop and buy different stuff till it arrived... Then move on to one of the websites provided above and buy in bulk as the natured menu after 12 months requires nearly a bag a day at £4 a bag could become expensive. Thats 5 days now and can confirm he's went through the wattery toilet period and they are back to normal now and no where near as stinky. (still snores and farts at night)

We got a poster from the local pet shop with lots of different ideas on what to add so should keep us going for a while.

What if they eat their RAW food and then start licking you?

Honestly, If I am wearing shorts (which is pretty much every day) my Labrador has an annoying habit of eating her evening kibble then coming over to me when I am sitting on the sofa and licking my legs.

Dogs are far better equipped to deal with pathogens in the food (clearly, what my Spaniel will sometimes try to eat is horrific!), they can still have issues as ours did, but it's quite rare..

However, I wouldn't dismiss the potential increased pathogens in the food completely out of hand, you store it, defrost it, dispense it, etc.. so some 'care' should be taken (we did, the Mrs is responsible for Food Hygiene standards in her school, so sorted all that out) to ensure any pathogens don't become a problem with humans in close proximity.

Very minor risk, and then only certain strains. In their natural state, dogs can quite happily eat rancid meat, as their digestive system is designed to cope with it.

Well, you know that water we supply you with, and that soap stuff they sell in supermarkets...?

If they do that straight after food, it's a sign they love you. Dogs prioritise their needs, in this case food being the most important thing on the planet, followed by safety, security, and family, which you embody for them in all cases.
