Dog Kennel

no he will feel your punishing him for something do you use the cage as a form of punishing him ?

the plans i have for the kennels i built are more than fine for your requirements

The cage is his current bed, only locked at night, recommended by the rspca due to chewing and he is very happy inside it

he is associates it with bed time then yes you could incorporate the cage to the kennel
will dig the plans out this evening i am building one at the moment for someone else

total so far for materials is around £76 quid

not gone up that much in few years since i built 4

My dog lived inside for about 5 years then mum said he smelled to much so made my dad build a kennel for him. He loves it outside now. In the winter he gets back in at night but he's usually reluctant to come in.
My dad insulated the kennel and raised it off the ground. You can also get things from Pets at Home which you stick in the microwave and put them in the kennel to keep your pet warm. They stay hot for about 12 hours so they're really good for putting in the kennel at nighttime. :)

yes but you only own one dog

sadly i would never just have one dog
due to there nature dogs are pack animals. plus not many dogs would start a fight with 4 dogs at once
We had two, one died, the other has been very warey of other dogs ever since for some reason - it wouldn't be fair on her to get another dog, especially as she's quite old and they stress her out a lot now. When we have visiting dogs she gets very grumpy with them :(

That thing dogma suggested sounds pretty cool :p My girlfriend had something similar (Oi! No, it wasn't for dogs) but put it in the microwave after someone had microwaved sausage rolls, which ruined it (stinks) :p

Shifter sounds very knowlegeable, anyway, sounds like you won't go wrong with his kennel plans :)

I appreciate all the advice, it was a toss up between putting him in the garden or giving him to the RSPCA, i just couldnt imagine life without him now though. Making sure he will be comfortable and safe is paramount though.

Gorgeous. Golden labs are just great. I love the personality most of them seem to have too.
