Dog thefts

always wondered about expensive animals, outside of breeders for shows and the like if you're just wanting a pet why pay that kind of money when you can get them from rescue centres?

also has the side benefit of generally coming pre-housetrained and you're doing a good deed?

I know of someone who had it. His wife was walking their dog and a do-as-you-likey walked up, snipped the leash and ran off with the dog.

Scaremongering and Facebook. Most of it are myths and events that are very rare yet shared it looks common.

You sure?

That's 93 dogs in two articles

If someone nicked my dog, they'd best make sure I never, ever find them. I will burn their entire existence to the ground.

We tried 3 rescue centres and not 1 got back to us so ended up buying a puppy, there's lots of dog thefts going on around here and most of it is drug dealers, theres been a few reports in the news.

Most of them are dogs nicked for breeding as the price of puppies has sky rocketed.

My nextdoor is full of missing dogs and cats, lots of missing pet posters and banners around too.

Probably a lot of money in it with every one stuck at home and wanting a pet.

Social media doesn't help, but it is definitely happening.

I'm not even a dog lover, and I despise the situation because sheeple are sheeple. Everyone and their dog (literally!) wanted a lockdown puppy. The same happened during the 2 short heatwaves of 2020: everyone flocked to the beaches to the extent that it was impossible to park anywhere. What happened when McDonald's reopened last year? Everyone flocked to McDonald's. On day 1, causing miles (hours) of tailbacks.

I don't think so, at least not around these parts. The demand and price has shot up as everyone is stuck at home. People grabbing them on the streets, from gardens and homes depending. It's a mixture of breeds, too.

Once lockdown is over and life returns to normal for people, the rehoming centres are going to be overrun, absolutely sickening.

Edit; I've also noticed more and more home breeders popping up across social media. Probably farming them to meet demand.

It’s awful people can do this, unsure what the penalty is for anyone caught but it needs to be extreme to hopefully at least make these ******* think about doing it.
Honestly I would fight to my last breath to fend off these despicable people doing this.

at least you tried the rescue centres first.

needless to say the day a rescue centre doesn't have any animals when i'm looking for one is the day i will very happily pay for one, sadly every time i've been to one (looking at cats rather than dogs admittedly) they've always had a selection.
