Hi there

I've just had a neighbor come to my house, my 5 month puppy Ron jumped up at her and scratched her arm.

I witnessed the whole thing (from 5 feet away) and apologised but now she's saying that my puppy bit her (0 teeth marks, 0 saliva on her arm, no chance in hell it was a bite), that it's dangerous and that she's going to report it.

My puppy is a cross between a great dane and a collie and has never hurt anyone before but with all the news going around about "dangerous dogs" I'm extremely worried about him.

What happens next?

Who is she going to report it to? Where was he when this happened? Sounds like a cross lady venting her spleen! She will calm down and I doubt anything will come of it.

I wouldn't worry too much. He's a puppy and I doubt your neighbor will actually report it.

However you do need to start to train it so it doesn't jump up at people. Our beagle used to be a pain for it and knocked down our nieces far too often.

Its not hard to train them. Just turn your back and ignore it when it jumps up for attention and only give it attention when its nice and calm.

The issue is getting everyone else to do the same

p.s. I'm sure you also saw your neighbor excitedly "shouting ooh puppy come here ooh aren't you gorgeous" etc etc getting the puppy all excited

Apologise to your neighbour, ask them to stop overreacting and be done with it.
Ignore the threats of having your dog reported as a dangerous dog.
Train the dog properly so it doesn't happen in the future tho as it could end up a considerable size.

Ignore the stupid bint and never let her near your house again.

Your dog is only 5 months old, it can't be expected to have the discipline of an adult animal yet.

On the same subject, my sister came round on Saturday with her collie and left it with me while she went shopping.

My brother then came round and was trapped in a corner of the room by the dog growling and snapping at him. It then gave him a little nip on one of his legs,

Dog is a rescue dog and hates men except me and sisters hubbie and son. Most likely down to treatment it had before she got it, as it was so timid when they brought it home from the kennels.

^this.

Nobody is going to get in trouble for having an excitable puppy and your neighbour needs to get a grip!

I had the same situation but the woman had said i ordered my dog to attack. which was mental. I still have my dog so don't worry.

Dangerous Dogs legislation (which I presume she is thinking of invoking) doesn't cover dogs on private property. Nothing will happen to you or the dog.
