Poll: Dogs or cats?

I'm a dog lover. They have personality, loyalty and affection. Cats, although I have nothing against them per say, are more solitary and maybe more independent than dogs. So which of these two do you think makes the better pet?

Oh, and don't get me started on goldfish !

I don't dislike cats, but next doors cat does little use our front drive as a litter tray (gravel)

Cats every time.

Nothing against dogs, but as you pointed out, cats are more independent and therefore don't tie you down as much dogs do.

Having owned a dog previously, which the then other half decided to surprise me with upon returning from having visited her parents, I ended up doing the twice a day walks!

Both are perfect pets if you take your time to find and train them just like children you only get out what you put in.

I'm generally 50/50 but would probably lean more towards dogs.

Guess it depends if you're more active/outddorsy than not.

Depends what you mean by a "better pet", cats are super easy to look after, dogs are more of a commitment.

TBH, I don't remember the last (or even first) time I saw a Service Assistance cat, Police Pussy or a Sniffer Mog working the airport. Even the military only use cats for clearing rats off ships... and occasionally as gas detectors, apparently!!

Dogs force you to go for long walks, helping you to stay fit... Cats want you to get fat and lazy, so you will die soon and they'll own the house. Dogs are forever getting medals for attacking burglars, rescuing people and even summoning help.... Cats just **** off and get dinner out.

If you get a good looking dog, he can do the cute waggy tail thing and help introduce you to hot women while you're out walking him. If you take a cat out on a leash, women just laugh at you and walk away really fast!!

Having grown up with plenty of both, I greatly prefer dogs still.

I prefer cats because they are fluffy and can be hugged.

BUT~~! Both cats and dogs can hurt people. Some dogs are very evil. A cat can be mostly good but if you get her angry, run run as much as you can !
