asrock 939 dual
hitachi 250gb sata2
winxp sp2

i installed this driver : SATA Driver, Ver. 2.0.7 from http://www.asrock.com.tw/support/Download/dl_939Dual-SATA2.htm
rebooted and changed from ide mode to sata. now my hddtach score and sisoft sandra hdd scores have dropped, from 160mb/s burst and 55mb/s average, to 80mb/s burst and 30mb/s average.

if i uninstall the driver it keeps coming back :|

Perhaps check the BIOS and windows DMA etc settings are all right (could be limiting transfer rates to the drive at say ATA100), or if nothing else, just reinstall the old drivers over the new ones, and when it tries to seach for hardware and install the new ones, in between uninstalls, just click cancel every chance you get lol

Are you only running one drive the deskstar? Have you enabled sata 2 on the drive using the feature tool?

one sata drive, yes its set to sata2. it was fine after doing that, just went slow after installing the sata2 drivers.
