Hello folks,
I am doing a new build after my old one took a liking to my drink (spilt my drink into my case).
I have a maximum budget of £1500, I have built 2 systems so I am fairly new to it all.
(typed from my tablet so I apologise for spelling and format)

Here is the items that I have noted so far:

Cpu/Mobo bundle

if you have any alternative options or advice it would be much helpful.
I play a lot of grand stratergy games, rpgs, mmos and new releases.

Thanks you, Luke.

Andreas' build is spot on except for the GPU, I'd advise a 295x2 for that money. Worst case scenario when crossfire profile doesn't exist for a game it's still only ~10% worse than the 980 anyway while in any other case it just smokes it.

Really? I was looking at at a beefy setup as thing like civilization and europa universalis killed my old system with load times and large scale fights.

I would go for something like this:
Nividia:

Here are the benchmarks between the 980 and 295x2:http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1437?vs=1442

There is room for expansion for the future. If you want to gave money and it is only for gaming then go with a i5 bundle. There is no need for 16gb for gaming

Why a 550w PSU, I would go with more W incase he wants to do SLI in the future

With the current specs you should be fine gaming at 1080p if you overclock the CPU.

An SSD would make the system much snappier.

What resolution do you plan to be gaming at?

I'd put an SSD in it, your specs are fine for current gaming and an SSd will improve your load times by a long way.

A 980 or 295X2 would be a good addition too if you feel the need.

New cooler, new case - these are options too if you feel the need to spend money.
