Doing it all again because life can be horrible

Well I think that's an overly harsh assessment but there you go. I won't bother saying more lest I get told off.

Oh and I lost half a pound when I weighed this morning.

I'm also reducing my dosage again today if the steroids so hopefully by about Saturday I'll have even more control of my eating.

As Mrthingyx says I'm looking at it purely from a fueling perspective.

We're all here to discuss if you feel I'm wrong then please go for it and tell me why you feel that :)

No one's here to berate you but I know sometimes I need that perspective from someone completely uninvolved.

Just to give you a little background on why I say the things I do a friend of mine wanted to lose weight and generally look better for her wedding unfortunately like yourself she was taking glucocorticoids alongside a variety of different SSRI type drugs to try and treat her crippling migraines which again can lead to weight gain.

I know no 2 people are a like but with a good weights program and some structured eating we got her to a point where she'd lost a couple of stone and she wasn't massively overweight to begin with and completely changed her body shape within about 6 months, yes she called me a **** at times because she thought I was being mean but that changed once she compared her pictures from when we started to ones just before she married.

I also prefer the tough love approach if I need telling so that's what everyone else gets too :D

There's just not one day in that diet where it looks like you're trying to eat healthily. You skipped dinner because you had a bag of m&ms

You're a grown overweight man trying to lose weight... So you have Frosties for breakfast

Large Costa Cooler drink

There's a wealth of knowledge to obtain in these forums, lots of people wanting to help. But this log doesn't read like someone wanting to change.

Make chicken breast a staple. There's two meals I go to when I can't decide what to have:

Chicken breast, brown rice and broccoli.
Chicken breast, sweet potato and broccoli.

I takes me about 40 minutes (including prep) to prepare 4-5 meals.

I used to have a diet similar to yours. I found it difficult to stop snacking. I'd be 'good' all day then end up eating chocolate, biscuits etc. I cut most of the sugar out of my diet and don't get any cravings anymore :) - might be worth a try.

Well I feel saying there's nothing in my diet other than processed food and carbs is harsh simply because that's simply not true, there is a selection of fruit and vegetables every day. At least one 1 day I surpassed the my five-a-day and I regularly hit 3 or 4.

I was under the impression (perhaps falling for advertising!) that belvitas were a healthy and filling food. Ironically I swaped out taking a small selection of walnuts and almonds with me to work for the belvitas!

I didn't skip dinner on the Saturday due to eating MnMs...I had a large lunch anyway and then my father invited himself round and didn't leave till almost midnight, I never really noticed the time fly and I didn't feel like eating that late.

Can I remind everyone that I've lost 13st before? I ate Frosties most mornings then as well. You can have a 30g serving of Frosties and 125ml of skimmed milk on a healthy diet...are there healthier options, of course there are. I know what I'm doing and I know that jumping from eating how I was when the dosage was high, to what you guys would consider healthy would not work for me. As for the Costa, that was the first time I've ever had one at work.

I may not be trying to eat 100% healthy but I am certainly eating healthier. I'm not looking to eat the healthiest diet I can, all the time there is the chance of my steroids being dumped back up (which if it happens again would be the third time) then I see little point in bothering. For example, I got low in dosage back at the end of January and over the course of February I tried real hard and lost a stone in 4 weeks....then my dosage was increased and I put that stone, and a little more, back on again.

Oh noes, I used 5 paragraphs to defend myself this time

I'll be starting a food diary again tomorrow and see how I am doing in a weeks time. It'll be missing the pizza and the Costa so its going to be at least a little better than this weeks was!

I don't think people are trying to criticize dude, only trying to help. You DO need more protein in your diet in my opinion.

You're right in what you say, as long as you're in a calorie deficit you can eat whatever you like and lose weight, however there are better alternatives to what you're eating.

If you can make small incremental changes to your diet you should see things progress faster, and a better breakfast could leave you feeling fuller for longer, which will make things easier on you (ie you're not starving by lunchtime!) and speed up your results.

But its your body, its your journey.

OK so, I don't think this is going to be much of a worthwhile activity but here is roughly what I ate ( I say roughly because I haven't been weighing and measuring exactly).

If you're trying to lose weight cut down on the fruit replace it with more vegetables, fruit is fine but it's also high in sugar for what you get out of it.

You need more protein, there is next to nothing in there now.

There is a lot of processed food in there crisps, yogurts, biscuits, chocolate, cereals, cereal bars.

Ditch the Belvita, put the nuts back in.

With the morning cereal you can get something much more filling in there for the calorie cost of processed cereal and skimmed milk.

Yes you may put the weight back on if they bump your dosage and you'll be back to where you started but look at it this way that's much better than being a stone heavier than when you started.

I'm not attacking you so there's no need to defend yourself, I have no vested interest in if you lose weight or not, take in some of what I say or don't, if you don't want peoples input then don't start a thread, if you want people to just say how great it is that you're even considering losing some weight then facebook is probably a good place to talk about it.

That is not a good diet. Even for someone that doesn't have the handicap of drugs making it more difficult to lose weight.

It's heavy in processed food in general, heavy in carbs and that's about it to be honest. There's little decent protein in there, and next to no healthy fats.

To be quite honest it's no surprise you're struggling and that's ignoring any effect the glucocorticoids are having on your metabolism.

I rarely comment in this area, but I am with Tom. This is a **** diet putting it lightly. Where are the FATS!!!!!! processed rubbish.

I also echo comments, defeated before you start. Man up, and do your own research. If you want this bad enough YOU need to put in the effort.

When I needed advice 3-4 years ago there was some educated folk on here. Some of these still remain, Tom being one of them ( I suggest you read the highlighted posts by Steedie)

This is my food today. I am not saying you should "try" this or it's perfect but it will at least give you an idea. Actually looking at the totals' its fairly poor, but better than any **** you have highlighted above.

I weigh 70kg so it should put in perspective.

I know sometimes reading criticism especially on something so personal as weightless diets etc can hit home hard and put defensive walls up or whatnot. But as someone who was 118kg and now at 90kg the advice from these rats is next to non. Soak up the knowledge, regardless of cutting weight before and good luck.

Ps. Please loose the frosties.

You are reading what you want from the advice given and you are taking points about your diet personally.

There is good advice here if you just read and accept what people are saying rather than taking what you want from each post.

Hope that you get where you want to be.

One thing I noted was that you hadn;t been including what you are drinking? Sorry if I missed a vital reference to this in the thread, but do you drink alcohol and if so what and how frequently. From a calorie perspective it should be considered.
