doing the unthinkable?

I understand where you're coming from but you can't call people who dedicate 100's of hours to games such as the Final Fantasy series, Gran Turismo series, Mario Kart, Grand Theft Auto series, Halo etc. as not being serious about their games.

No no.

Serious as in, "I'm sat here at a desk with my keyboard and mouse".

Whereas Consoles are more "Get mates around and order a pizza".

Until consoles deliver racing sims then I will stick with PC :)

Ain't that the truth....

And no, Gran Turismo fans, the GT series are not racing simulations despite their fairly retarded "The Real Driving Simulator" tagline. They are games, and not very good ones at that. If I wanted to experience horrendous understeer no matter what I did with steering, brakes or throttle, I'd enjoy GT4. However, I'm not a huge fan of understeer. Or engines that sound like hairdriers.

Play both, that's what I do. Console for console games and PC for PC games.

That is certainly quite revolutionary, it just might catch on :p

Ive ordered a new gaming laptop this week, and im really looking forward to it coming so i can get back into WOW, its really been the only thing i have missed since selling my gaming pc for a pretty basic notebook.

I dont really know whats on the horizon for the pc, from what ive seen, theres not that much coming that floats my boat, while theres quite a fair bit on consoles coming that looks great.

Its nice to have the option to play any game i want though, it means i dont have to defend my choice and get all upset and angry about it like some people in this thread are getting (and coming off as very immature).

I have both, Xbox is for online play. PC is currently just for Dawn of War. PC's will always be the way best for Strat games. Unless Microsoft release an official mouse and keyboard for the 360 then things may be different.

Both have their merits, depends how mad you are for a blazing hot rig. Mines probably 3 years old now but im still happy with the quality i get for gaming.

I have both, but I prefer PC gaming. Atm I'm playing my 360 more because none of my PC games work on Vista and I can't be bothered to go back to XP

console = kids
pc = kids/teenagers/adults

hmmmm, I'm 37, played almost every console / top pc game sinch 1977..... it's nice to be called a kid.

i didn't ask for a pc v console flam, just if people have done it and what do they think.

seems to me the people who bitch about pc v console are the kiddys. Why do posts like this always go the same way :(

I dont see how you can say consoles are for kids as Console's and PC's are used in the same way by Gamers and thats to play games...

I would say its true that younger Gamers would more likely have a console compared to a pc due to cost mainly and maybe not justify buying a pc for the first time just for games also.

I could'nt see my self sticking to one platform as there is always going to be something great to play on each one.

I take games on individual merit. It's not really of any consequence what platform they are on. The only reason it matters is if I don't have the right console/my PC isn't good enough, I've got to decide whether it is worth investing in a new console/PC upgrade. I decided an Xbox 360 was worth it, but I would never dream of selling my PC.

Do you know the reason I dumped consoles for the PC was due to mods out for DukeNukem3D.

Me and a mate playing on our PC's connected in my bedroom via serial cable, downloading new maps using a 56k connection!

That was the end of consoles for me. mind you, that was when the original Playstation was still the new console!

Without being biased or being a fanboy, it ultimately comes down the available games and what type of games your playing. Some are far more suited to the PC whilst others are far more suited to the Console.

So it all depends on what suits you best DiscoStu. You have to factor in if you think your tastes are going to change.

Probably the best way you could choose would be look back over the past year and mark off the type of games you like for the XBOX360 and the PC. Then take a look at the forthcoming games for the XBOX360 and the PC and mark off which of those you like.

At least you are making an informed decision based on your preferences rather than listening to a bunch of biased fanboys try and persuade you they are the true "hard core gamer  ".

you have a fair point...i too am in the process of putting together a new system for my 3 year old p4-2.8Ghz.... a decent system came to 700ish...

or, i could just buy a premium xbox360 for 280 quid and even with afew games, wont break the 400 barrier...

another alternative is a Wii, for only 180 bucks......

i currently dont know of any decent PC games out there to justify the cost, and i can think of several 360 games that i wouldnt mind playing...

hmmmm.....

im a true gamer, or i hope i am, i do nothing but game if im not socialising or working.

i own a ps2, xbox, 360, cube (and some of the oldies up in the loft), and i often spend days not touching the pc because i want to play console games, its 2 different worlds. consoles are for anyone i think, but pc's are for more 'in depth gamers' as you dont see every gamer with a 2k+ rig to play css.

but consoles have everyone playing, from little mini nub's playing there daddies games (gears of war, dementing there minds, gonna borrow daddies chainsaw next) to true gamers who also own pc's.

its just games, consoles have a much wider community experience wise imo.

pc's have a lot more mature gamers, but even though you have true console player who play non stop, they are also mature gamers, but prefer not to fiddle with hardware or spend tons of money on a pc when they can buy a console.

its down to the person at the end of the day.
