Hi there i have recently boug ha domain www.lukecarr.co.uk
for all my artwork.

I have used 1&1 to buy the domain do i also have to buy hosting aswell in order to put a website up?

Is it like the domain is the parking space. and the hosting the the car to put in it?

if that makes sense.

yes...

the domain would be more like the directions on how to get to the garage.

the hosting would be the garage

and the website/data would be the car in the garage

:)

i have already bough the domain with 1&1.

would it be best to get hosting from somewhere else? is this possible or do i have to stic kwith 1&1 for both?

thanks for the help. Luke

I have just canceled my subscription with 1&1.

dose anyone know how long until the domain i had with them will be back up for availiability?

Thanks

Erm, if it gets bought by a drop-catcher... never.

You should transfer the domain to another provider (if that's what you want to do), NEVER let the registration lapse!

yeah it was a one year contract. for 99p for the first year.

so i'm guessing it will be one year until that domain is avaiible lol

what a wait!

what do you mean bu never let the registration lapse?

thanks

You should have kept the domain with 1and1 and then changed the nameservers to your hosting account. Always keep the hosting account and domain with seperate companies.
