Hi.

Apologies if this should have gone somewhere else in the forum instead of General Discussion.

I have a org.uk domain which I registered with Godaddy few years ago. During renewal, they bump up the price and I switched to Namecheap. I have a feeling that Namecheap are doing somthing similar as my renewal for next year is £7.
Is this the going rate?

At £7 for a renewal I believe that's a good price. I doubt GoDaddy are making more than a few pence on it. It's a very competitive price.
Most Hosts/registrars offer some kind of sign up deal for registering a new domain for your first year, however few if any provide such a deal if transferring a existing domain. (I will likely be corrected).

Most make their money on upselling additional features such as webhosting etc, and sometimes (like GoDaddy) even charge you extra to amend the records.

My Google, now squarespace renewal is £17 for a random, rubbish domain site that I purely use as an email sink.
So yeah, £7 seems good.

In the early 2000s, I had a domain with Freeparking which was £15 across 3 years, so £5/year.

20 years later, I agree with others on here that £7/year is pretty good or at least about right.
