Domain users files

Just a quickie, have finnaly set up my Server 2K3 box a couple of days ago and i now have the domain, user accounts, network printer and internet access set up and working fine. The problem is that when a user places an item on their desktop it doesn't follow them to another workstation. None of their files follow the profiles?

Any help appreciated.

You need to setup roamign profiles, which is fairly easy tbh.

Create a dir on the server called profiles, the in the users profile set their profiles directory to:

\\servername\profiles\%username%

you cna also default their home directory (my documents etc) to a server share:

\\serverfile\home\%username%

If you're using roaming profiles, it's also good practice to configure folder redirection for 'My Documents'. Once that starts getting full (500mb say), that data is copied across the network every time the user logs on... not very efficient, and can significantly delay logon times. Folder redirection negates that.

Yes. Create a folder on the server data drive called 'Profiles' and then share it as 'profiles$'. Assign the appropriate permissions and then in the user properties dialog, map the profiles path to: '\\servername\profiles$\%username%'
