The Domino uses water to transport heat just like a heatsink uses a heatpipe to transport heat. The main difference is that radiator to spread out the heat while they use a heatsink. Either way the concentrated heat load from the CPU is spread out over a larger surface area and then the heat is blown out into the ambient air by a fan.

I had a look at some of these but I don't see how Titan fenrir is going to be better then a v8, its much smaller, and I could not find the TRUE one.

dose any one know what TRUE is? if so can you point me in the right direction. i.e a full name or a link to a page with it on.

I got to say I have built my rig to look sweet inside and out, so I have looked at some cooling, and just love the look of them, but I still have to look for what's going to keep my cpu cool enough to overclock it, this is my problem I wont it to look good doing it.

Although the Noctua and other's like it work well I hate the why they look, else I would have got one by now, thats why I ask about them like I have.

so here is my last question, what looks good and what preforms good air/water cooling?

I would like to put it to a vote, the vote is for: looks, o/c preternatural, value for money.

I just wish that Thermalright would do a better way to hold the True down
you need to use a washer mod and it still moves very easy n the cpu.

The cooler is very good the way they hold it to the mother board VERY BAD.
 
that sounds a bit sketchy I don't think that sounds like a good heat sink to me, if it moves around then there is more room for damage, ever the cpu or memory or even the motherboard could suffer from this heat sink movement.

dose it not come with a back plate to hold it in place?

I have to admit I was not at all pleased when I found out it was moving when I swapped out the fan...thats why even tho I have tried the Noctua and now the TRUE, my temps are still not getting lower than 40C (idle and thats after lapping the CPU)...so I am going to have a stab at water cooling...altho not with the Domino...altho maybe I wish I had tried that first just to see what I would achieve but never mind :D

I will sell my True soon and get a Domino loks good to me
also(by searching here)you need to spend about £300 on very good
water cooling to see good results and to me I would just buy a better
CPU with the cash then water cooling.

Not really, you can build a decent CPU loop for around £150 these days.
 
Agree with reflux - good single block loop around £150 from XSPC
Second hand maybe just short of a £100 (but with a larger rad but older block)
£300 will buy you a good twin loop or a high quality single multi-block loop with full cover blocks or a passive near silent loop.

And if your TRUE rotates easily - lap it as it's most likely convex and your chip is relatively flat.
Could take you the best part of an hour.

Hmmm.....I built my loop a while ago now plus I've added some bits so it probably cost me £200+. However, I specced this earlier just to show £150 can be done.....

On top of that you would need to buy some fluid (~£10), but OCUK don't sell it anymore.
 
man if I wasnt going to Dublin next weekend, I would have bought all my water cooling stuff by now and get going...but have to wait til pay day now...:D but thanks to reflux I now know what I will be buying...that being said I got compression fittings instead of barbs...but its all a learning curve for me...and you wouldnt think I had like 10yrs experience of building PC's lol...:D

Mounting the rad is the trick part tbh, you might need to mod the case.

With my setup, which has a seperate pump and res, I get idle temps of around 40c and full load of around 77c @ 3.8ghz.
