OK, this morning i went to go out to my car and i hit the open button on my key and the car didnt open, which to me suggested the batterys were flatish on the key.

Anyways after a few attempts the car opens and I drive off to the car park. As i was sitting in the car i thought id try the lock button on the key, and started pressing it, and stage one of the lock kicked in and locked the door, i then hit it again (by accident) and the alarm beeped to say it was enabeled and the deadlocks went into the door, not the brightest thing to do. Now, i hit the open button......nothing, try again.....nothing. Try the door handle......nothing due to deadlocks being in. I locked myself in my own bloody car :o How much of a pratt i must have looked hitting the open button on the key like a madman i dont know. After a couple of minutes of hitting the open button it eventually worked, without the car alarm going off (thankfully).

Oops

Moral of the story, dont check the batterys on your car keys whilt in the car :o

Haha muppet! :p

Very funny, sounds like something I'd do so you're not alone :p (Cheers for the heads up for when my key starts to go :o)

:o haha, been there before.

Praying to yourself that the batteries will start working.

On many occasion, I've had to dance around my car while waving my keyfob in the air and chanting "Unlock you *******"

:D

Heheh, nice one ;)

A few weeks back whilst my car was in the body shop having some repairs, we were given a Toyota Corolla courtesy car. The wife used it to travel to work daily (I ride a bike to work). We had the Toyota for about 2 weeks.

The time came when our car was ready, and so my wife picked it up from the body shop on her way home from work. She went to Tesco for a bit of a shop (as women do). She finished shopping, returned to the car and switched it on. She went to reverse out of the space, and couldn't get reverse to engage whatsoever. She tried for a good few minutes, after which point she rang me at work in desperation. It was at this point when she realised that reverse was in the opposite corner of the gearbox to the Toyota. What a n00b :D

Just a few weeks back I left the interior light on one night and by the time I needed to use the car that battery was flat.

Bearing in mind my car has remote central locking, no locks on the doors and a broken boot lock and had no idea what to do lol.

I called the RAC out and they managed to bend the door back a little and lift up the thingymabob. I've called the RAC out at least 4 times because I've ran the battery down lol, although usually it only goes as far as the car not starting rather than the central locking failing. But hey, I may as well get something for my membership fee :p

it may be that the battery contact inside the remote fob has worn off...

I suggest that before you go and spend money on a new battery, open the fob up and check that there's a good contact area. If it looks like it's worn off get a 2B pencil, and cover the contact area by scribbling all over the it with the pencil. This will make the contact good again.

had to drive my golf to the garage i had my alarm fitted at, with the damn thing going off at one stage... couldnt get the begger to shut up

so there i was driving casually down the road with this ear hurting noise coming from under my bonnet with cars flashing me and pulling over for me

it didnt even sound like like any kind of law enforcement :p

Yup,my dads key basically died so he used his spare that seemed to have a bright light suggesting it was good to go. He then walked home from work because the key was dead,i opened it and bent the contact so it would apply more pressure,voila.....technology can be a pain in the ****.

This is what the keyhole under the drivers door handle is for.
if my alarm is armed and i unlock the door manually and step inside the car, the alarm goes off.

so it grants you entry but your alarm has a hissy

I nearly got in a fight when that happened to me :(

My alarm ECU decided to play up so everytime I opened the door or bonnet to fix it the alarm would go off. Eventually I disconnected the alarm ecu and called it a night, time was 19.30. The next evening (about 17.45) I plugged the ecu back in to try something else and the alarm went off, a bloke from a few doors down had to be held back by his girlfriend as he was going to have a go at me for my "stupid ******* alarm constantly going off and he wasn't going to take it anymore"

Meh, it fixed itself anyway.

It's a 306 thing this time of year!!

My 306 starts playing up during winter too :( Like yours it wont lock and then it will. Sometimes it will lock but wont open so I have to use the keys but that sets the alarm off. Dont worry if it does go off just put the key in the ignition and turn it to on and it will stop.

I'm unsure what causes mine. Sometimes it locks / deadlocks then as I walk away unlocks itself!! Its crazy. That is part of the reason I have one of those big locks that cover the whole steering wheel.

It hasnt done it all summer though and touch wood hasn't started this winter yet. Sometimes water can get down into the car from where the aerial is mounted I believe and cause the remote aerial in the car to play up. Though in your case it could just be the battery.

Dont you just love French electrics :(
