theres nothing wrong with the meat but its the way its cooked, ive seen a tv programme they closed down this kebab place in north london when the health & safety guys went round, they got to the base off the kabab thing and found maggots.
The guy explained that the meat on the inside isnt good and can go rotten, then the presentor asked would you eat a kabab he said "no"

You do know why lots of people are trying to get everyone on the doner register dont you ?? ;)

I can vividly remember the first I ever had a kebab. Manchester city centre November 1986. Was out with the rest of the lads from our student house who included a couple of greek chaps who refused the offer of a kebab and had spud-u-like instead, which I thought was bizzare at the time. Taste buds never experienced anything like it up to then.

My head hurts and I smell of Kebab. :(

Best thing is, I don't remember most of what i posted!

*checks history to see what other mischief I got up to last night*

I saw that and to be honest, I found it a pleasant surprise. It's actually good meat.

yeah and they definitely wouldn't just use the best bits in the show.

I've seen it on TV before, it's basically all the cheap fatty cuts of lamb thrown in to a giant mincer - not nice but nothing like the dog/cat that's rumoured. Remember cartillage, skin and ligaments cound towards meat content.

It can't be that good for you, I gave my dog some of my donor (had mayo on it) and the next day we all went out leaving him in the house, came back to find crap everywhere, the stair gates destroyed, the back door scratched to pieces and the front door scratched to pieces where he tryed to get out and go to the toilet, poor little guy :( he looked very sad when we came back too, nothing a cuddle didn't fix though

I've only ever had doner meat twice. The first time, I was sober and it was foul.

Then all my friends were like 'OMFG! YOU HAVE TO BE DRUNK!!!!'

So I sampled some whilst heavily inebriated. From a recommended parlour of mechanically recovered meat products, I must add...

It still tasted foul. The culinary equivelant of dry-humping your own naked grandparents whilst chewing on their freshly soiled underwear.

It's good meat, its just the cuts that are scruffy, so they don't sell them.
It's better than most restaurants. I mean the meat is cooking there, in front of you, so you can see how clean the place is. Same with salad it hasn't been left there weeks. You can tell if salad is fresh or not, I mean it doesn't exactly keep fresh and green for long. Plus you get high turnover which means stuff is kept for weeks anyway.

How long does the doner meat stay on the turny thing though?

This is my concern, it just seems to go through a cycle of heating and cooling, reheating and cooling. Seems to be completely against standard health and safety.

I've thought that myself,if you walk past the same shop the next day & see it sitting there on the turny thing ready to be fired back up the next night
